Default Power Steering hoses for a 1998 Z28

All

My wife's Z28 convertible is leaking - rear pinion seal and now the PS pressure line.

I am going to do the PS lines myself but I only see a listing for the pressure line at the online stores (RockAuto, Napa, even AutoZone). They list the return line only for the 3.8 V6 and nothing for a V8. What gives - is the return line the same for both the 6 and the 8?

Once I swap them, how much fluid do I need and what is the procedure to bleed the system?

Thanks
Stacy

Just get some 3/8 hose at Advance Auto and cut to length

As for the power steering bleed, the way I did mine was disconnect return line and put in a bottle. Lift the front of car, then turn the steering wheel lock to lock while maintaining fluid level in reservoir til you get clean fluid coming out.

I would rather have the orginal type line especially since the metal end is crimped onto the rubber hose of the original...

When you do this - is the car running or off? disconnect the line from the reservior? what keeps the fluid from running out of the reservior?

I am in the same boat as you man I was looking all over for those hoses. Nobody sells them. I am thinking about just going to gm and getting the right line.

I sourced the HP line for a 2k2 Z28 just a a couple weeks ago at O'Reilly's.

It was about $40

Took less than a quart of fluid.

You can get the high pressure line from vatozone for $26. I just replaced my entire steering system (rack, pump, and HP line).

Yep I can find the HIGH PRESSURE one at most places - RockAuto, NAPA, autozone etc. - but they only show the return line in a list for the V6

I guess I will go to the stealership....
