If you can get a LS2, do that, otherwise, the iron 6.0 does not have the hole drilled for the power steering bracket provision.

A LS2 will have the 243/799 heads and then there are tons of grinds to pick from or have Pat G or someone spec a cam for you, from there, you can be happy with that or have the heads ported or buy different heads and go with whatever cam matches the heads better.

You need to research here and look at the tons of builds and see what sounds like would make you happy, i am running a stock LQ4 with a Trex cam and i love it, but a set of 243s will be in it in the near future.

Lq9.. best bang for the buck and easiest swap..

If I were you I would do l92 heads and ls3 intake.. then get pat g or someone to spec you a cam.. that should be around 475, conservative. if you have a grand extra get the heads and intake portedthat wipl be good for another 40 or so..

For the money it wouldnt be worth it to go ls2 over lq9. Same power for a whole lot more money. You also won't be making a little over 500rwhp cam only with any kind of ideal setup.

OP, Check this thread out. It has a lot of good info. It may not be the ideal set up for your wallet but it is possible.https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...s-503rwhp.html

That is a WHOLE LOT of money for that... You could spend a fraction of what you are suggesting and make the same power.

I'm not going to spend an extra 2k for 10 peak rwhp.

Op of you want to spend that kind of money.. Go with an l92, more power and room to grow for the same price.

There is no more money in this build than any other build of the bolt on sort. There are no magazine "power" parts for show. Every piece made the power that it should have with this combo. Yes it came with a price but isnt that what its about? Making power? The only other options were forced induction or spray.. I wont spray anything so the cost factor between FI and NA sort of balanced out, and I didnt have to replace a hood either

That is not average power for that build for obvious reasons.. If you are so naive to think that then ok, I'm not going to argue about it.

For the op, that is extra money. He is starting from scratch so has many options.. Your option would be one of the most expensive and yield about the same, or less, power.

What I'm doing...

Selling the heads cam intake etc that I have now.. buying an l92 pull out.. you need to buy tsps conversion kit for 400$ and the 24x box for 250 and an ls3 intake/rails for 300~.
If you have 3k cash to spend now, by the time you sell off your parts/motor you will have money left over.

For the time being I'm going to go gam only, should make around 450-65rwhp through my 4000 stalled auto.. later i will get the heads ported and either port the intake or go to a fast. Through a t56 you would be around 485.

Keep in mind you would still have a ton to grow and making good power on a very small investment.
