My brother should be leaving JPS this afternoon or evening. He will be placed in a facility called LifeCare in southwest Ft Worth. And after that he will be going to Baylor medical Neuro- Rehab in Dallas.

My brother has been make good steps the past week. He is now at a Level 4 (started Level 2 at his LTAC) on the rehab scale for Traumatic brain injuries. He is now starting to respond to commands, slowly but responding. He is starting to try and talk. And he even took a good swing (punched her in the stomach) at his speech therapist today. What is significant about that is he used his weak side (right arm/left side brain injury) to do it. He continues to make the right steps in the right direction.
Thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. Myself and my family are very greatful.

My brother talked today! He said 4 clear words. First, he tried to get a sentence out but only clear things he said was "My mother". Then, he was getting mad at the nurse and said "Right now".

Haven't posted an update in a while...
My brother has made great progress at his LTAC. He has started talking and volcalizing more. He has a towel that he will use to wipe his face when he starts to drool (still hard for him to control that). He will tell the nurses what he wants or if something hurts sometimes. The way his doctors and nurse explained it to use is that for normal adults, we dont have to "think" about talking, we just do it. For him, he has to put a lot of thought and energy into getting out simple words and sentences.
And he has started to eat somewhat normal food on his own. It may be messy and soft foods, but he is using spoons and not needing the nurse to help him get the food there. I am thinking that next time I go by, I am going to bring him some Whataburger Fries and a Chocolate Milk Shake. When my mom and his girlfriend were trying to decide what to get for dinner, he said he wanted Whataburger (True Texan, haha).
My mom wanted me to pass on her thanks to everyone who has read (posted or not) this and sent their thoughts, prayers, and well wishes. And you all have my thanks as well.

Yesterday, I brought him a Whataburger chocolate shake and he enjoyed the **** out of that.
But the biggest things came on Friday...he needed some assistants, but he walked for the first time. He asked me to show everyone that he is walking.
