Default got lucky... again! gotta love TX cops!

so I'm on my way home in my 3rd gen. i get pulled over for going 80 in a 60 in the HOV lane, which I illegally entered to get around an 18 wheeler that was in the left lane. This car also has no front plate and the inspection expired in october.

cop asks me if i knew why i was being pulled over... no way i could play dumb, so I admit to it... I say 'a few things come to mind... one being my speed, and i didnt think the HOV lane rules were in effect on weekends... so i was just in that lane to get around an 18 wheeler'. (which is illegal itself because you cant cross the double white lines).

cop informs me that the HOV rules are indeed in effect on weekends and asks for my license and insurance. at this point i also have to tell him i'm carrying a handgun. he looks at my insurance, and see's my 3 f-bodies on it. he says 'so you're into LS motors are ya... i got a 2010 SS myself... start this thing up for me, i wanna hear it.' i go ahead and start up the car... we talk cars for a couple mins and he says 'alright, you're all set, have a nice day.'

who woulda thought that having 3 f-bodies would get you out of a ticket! that **** never would have happened back home in Boston!

i dunno what it is... ive gotten like 5 warnings in the 5+ years i've been here and only like 2 real tickets. i didnt even know there was a such thing as a verbal warning till i moved to tx.

either TX cops arent trained to be total ******** like MA cops, or having the CHL helps get you out of tickets or something. i dunno what it is, but i aint complaining!

Yeah well the DPS officer told me once..hey man nice car i have the same SS at the house oh and here is your citation for speeding.....I only had to pull over and wait while he made the turn around on I10 just outside of San Antonio...I waited on him for about 5 minutes since I saw him hit the lights going the opposite way I could have easily out distanced him so I figured he would cut me a break =( oh well I went to court and got off anyways thank goodness.

Closest thing to this I've had is a state trooper handing me a ticket, THEN trying to BS with me about my car like were at a meet or something.

I got pulled over in my M3 going about 120 and the cop was super cool. Thought maybe I was drunk at first but then realized I was just hauling *** to get home. We talked about cars, my job, and I told him I was carrying and he ended up letting me go.

The cops down here in Houston are so much better then the ones back in Buffalo NY were I grew up.

I had the neighbors complain about my truck being too loud about a week back, cop told me cut the **** and then we talked about lifted trucks and the badass excursion he has at home. Not all cops are dicks.

My 70 Camaro had open headers and I never got hassled in it. Ran through first infront of a cop on accident one day and he acted like I wasn't even there. No way in hell he didnt hear me.

Some guys get all the luck =/

Got owned today, he was cool and nice, but still threw it my way...

Wrote down 90 in a 60, was makin noise under an overpass, got carried away and went all the way through 4th...which we all know isn't 90mph lol.

Guess he cut me a bit of a brake, considering I didn't have my new registration sticker on and 2 month old inspection sticker...isn't 20 over enough to be hauled off to jail or impounded?

25+ is instant jail, dependent on how the cop is feeling at the time.

i dunno about that... my 1st run-in with the law in TX was getting a ticket for going 27 over in Rhome (far north of fort worth). i was going 92 in a 65 at 3am, test driving my 3rd gen after just getting it road worthy. not only did i not get hauled off to jail, they let me do deferred adjudication.

they said you can only do deferred if its 25 over or less. but i was like 'i understand how this works... i understand what you guys want... you can either let me do deferred and i just cut you a check and we end this now, or i call a traffic lawyer and you know this ticket will get squashed... now how about we just do this the easy way and save ourselves the headache'. he put me on hold for a min to discuss with whoever, and came back saying i could do deferred.

that might only work in small towns though.

I was just gonna head up to the court and see what the ticket is, I'll have it "inspected" by then hopefully and can just pay the $20 fix it ticket + speeding...I wasn't planning on trying to fight it since it could have been much worse.
