Anyone wanna take a guess at whats wrong with my car?

Arrow Anyone wanna take a guess at whats wrong with my car?

Well we just got the formula finished up for clobberthon and i was hoping for 7.20 to high 7.2s. The car is a heads and cam car making about 420 hp at the motor with a 4l60e built up with 3.73 gears and a 3800 stall and all the suspension stuff for racing. ( still the stock k-member). It hasnt ran in about 3 months because we gutted the interior, put a racing seat in, 10 pt. cage and all that stuff. Before we took it down to gut it out it was running 7.2 pretty consistent. But it started acting weird like it would shift from 1st to 2nd really early after i took off( i was cutting 1.5 60ft) and then the car would kind of bogg down and then pick back up again and then it wuold shift into 3rd really early. So now we have to keep it in 2nd then manually shift it to 3rd at around 5500 rpm. We replaced the tranny and the same thing is still happening. If anyone knows what this is or has had this problem help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks alot.

i;m not sure if this is anywhere close to thr right answer but i know in my 6 spd car when i messed up my valvesprings it would run ok until high rpms like right after i shifted and it would just fall on its face when i hit 2nd (feels like your running a 4 banger). maybe they could have something to do with it, what kind of springs are u runnin?

Did you update the computer with the gears and stall?

Well we speeddemon tune it and sometimes itll run fine and others it wont. It shifts way too early and it just drops rpms soo fast and then picks em up again. I was racing yesterday and i was way infront of a stang until 2nd gear then we caught up again and then i barely won. But were gonna take it over to hpe and see what they can do and if they can do anything, then th350 or turbo 400.

To me it sounds like you just need to set your shift points higher. Whoever can plug in the ls1edit (speedemon, hpe or whoever) should be able to do this without charging for a full tune.

Take it back to Speedemon and tell em you want the shift points set higher at WOT.

Yeah i would but hes moving and no one can ever get a hold of em, but were gonna run it by hpe and get it on the mustang dyno and see what we can do.

You definently need to talk to Chris and see what he thinks, he is pretty good about working the little kinks out of tuning, becuase there are lots of little kinks. I would just let him know the situation and see what he can do for you.

i agree, its a tuning issue. does the entire car bog down or just the engine? cam installed straight up, or advanced/retarded?

Tuning all the way bro.My Z had the same problems mostly due to the gear and verter swap.
