Default Let's get the ball rolling...no more front license plates.

Who's with me? Let's get this stupid law repealled. I want the front of my Z28 to be free of that rectangular tumor that's on it's nose. Let's sign a petition and getting it going making the rounds. I've had a Camaro as my primary car for over 10 years and I'm sick of the front plate.

Who's with me?

yeah... just throw it up between the dash and the window. i actually use little suction cups with hooks on them to hold it into place... that way when i WOT i don't get decapitated by a flying license plate. if your worried about cops... as long as it's visible in the dash cops won't really care. they just want to know that you actually have the front and back plates and that someone else isn't out there using your plate. just my .02

I have never run a front plate on any F-bodies i've owned. I dont care if they get rid of the law or not, i'm not gonna put one on the front of my TA.

I tell em give me the ticket, it's a non moving violation and worth the 75 bucks to not have one. Sometimes it works, sometimes it dosent but I'll never destroy the look of my ride. I love the bird emblem up front.

Actually cops dont give a **** if you have it on the dash, at least most dont, i know of plenty of friends that got a ticket even tho it was on their dash. Technically, the law says the plate needs to be on the very front of the vehicle (i forget the way they word it), the dash doesn't meet that requirement

What's a front license plate? I have never had one of those before...

I have been pulled over more than I can count on 2 hands and not once has a cop said anything to me about not having a front plate.

The law doesn't say anything about it needing to be on the "very front" it says " a person commints an offence when operating a passenger car or commercial vehicle that does not display two liscense plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle"

The "very front of the car" is just an interpretation of the law that most officers make. Most cops that have pulled me over for no front plate are just using that as a reason to pull me over and check everything out (make sure i'm not drunk, i am in college station). I've been pulled over quite a few times for no front plate (it's in my passenger visor) but never been given a ticket.

If you want to know more about the plate laws and what you can/cant do according to the law check out section 502 and look at articles 404 and 409.

The windshield is not the front of the car. The rear seats face the front of the car too... just having the plate facing the front doesn't make it legal.

*sigh* here we go with this one again

straight from the DPS webpage: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc/faq/faq_item.htm

"State law requires that you display two (2) license plates, one to the front and one to the rear. Placement or mounting of license plates is not defined."

their link to 'view this statute' is messed up, but i manually got to it. here is the link to the law, letter by letter.
http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes...htm#502.404.00

remember that this is an election year... good time to make changes happen!
