Default Having a Salvage Title on your car?

Since i blew my ls1 i was thinkin of claiming it under insurance and they said that they would more than likely total it out since i "drove over a puddle of water" and blew my motor. they are goin to give me the full amount of my car minus my deductilbe. which is pretty good amount. BUT i would have a Salvage Title. But who cares?... i would have alot of cash in my pocket.
I plan on keeping my car for a LONG time and i might never sell it. give me ur opion on this.

Thanks

I thought you had a motor on the way for it?

If they are going to give you a load of money for your car, they are going to take the car.... and the motor. You might have the option to buy it back thou... so you wont have this ton of cash in your hand. If you are not going to sell your car, then I dont see a problem with it.

I did have a friend of mine hydro-lock his SS in Houston, and his insurance co. did not total it out. Before they make any decisions they are going to send out an adjuster. If they dont total it out, they will pay for a new motor... or repairs to the old one. Never know until that adjuster shows up.

That does not seem like a very good idea to me, and as stated above you will have to buy the car back.

They will take the car, and they will want everything the car had on it.

Then if you want it back you will have to pay a percentage of what they gave you for it. Since they wont give you much you're looking to lose huge money once you try to resale the car. I don't know about you, but salvaged title flood car is a bright RED flag when buying a car. I wouldn't give you 2k for your car running with a flood title.

This reminds me of when Chris Doyal told that guy to use sandpaper to clean the nose of his car, and he did..

listen the insurance told me a totaly differnet thing, this same thing happened with my boss and his vette. they gave him 10k and he actually hydro locked his motor. they said there is a chance, it wont have a salvage title but if its not it will fall under mechanial failure which is covered under insurance.

been there done that, if they total the car they take it away and give you what it was worth before the wreck, you have the option to spend a good amount of the money they gave you to buy it back but then you will have a salvage title which makes it worth nothing when you try to sell it, why in the world would you want to get a salvage title on your car so you can fix it now and ruin its worth and possibly raising your insurance cost instead of saving some money and fixing the car and keeping it with a clean title it makes no sense at all to me...

The insurance company right now is going to tell you want you want to hear, however they dont care about you at all, they are only in it for the money and are only going to do what makes them money or keeps them at the smallest loss possible

the other thing about your bosses vette, 10k isnt enough to total it out, thats more than enough to total out your car as far as insurance company is concerned more than likely
