Default Bmw twin turbo x6

Since I work for bmw and thought this was kinda cool figured I would pass it on. Supposed to see it by August. Look at how the air enters on the outside of the heads and flows to the lifter valley mounted turbos. Kinda cool.

Turbos in the lifter valley. Intakes where the exhaust is. Damn germans, must have been lots of drinking involved.

I am just curious how much heat will be on the top of the motor.

I'm sure once you get home from work you can cook dinner on the hood. So, they should add a teflon hood option, lol.

Kinda wierded me out lookin at that. I think what had happend was someone put the heads on upside down and they just went with it.

Guess there is no opting for bigger turbos...

They were probably on backwards then figured it would be too much to change it. I honestly think the reason they did it was to say look what we can do, who else has done it? Same thing with the magnesium engine blocks, we did it what can you do? Damn germans.

Through conduction and basic thermal properties, I wouldn't worry a whole lot about heat on the motor. But yea, the hood will be rather warm I would think. But surely BMW has a solution for that. I've heard they stopped global warming, so a hot hood shouldn't be a problem...

haha ive seen the production version of the engine, there solution is a big thick nasty looking heat shield that covers almost the entire top of the engine. Its a good design for a smaller chassis vehicle. Hopefully bmw doesn't forget the oil coolers like they did on early production 335i's...

cam72aro- what dealer are you with ?
