There goes my weekend.....I am scheduled to go to where ever this thing makes landfall to clean it up. Was the same thing with gustav but it wasn't bad enough for them to send us out.

It won't hit Houston...we may get a little of the dirty side depending on the front later this week. Almost all of the models show it going from Corpus, south. Save a tree and leave the windows alone

All of the trackers that I just looked at show it going further south this morning towards South Texas. Looks like we might not even get any rain out of it.

I wonder how many people are going to try to return the plywood that they bought from the stores.

I don't care where it hits as long as it doesn't mess up the Texans home opener on Sunday. I didn't buy season tickets to watch the games get cancelled!

If it does stay on track towards Brownsville, I'm going surfing this Saturday.

Even if it does hit lower, the east side of a hurricane is stronger. We'd still get a lot of wind and rain from the bands.

I sure hope not. All of my jobsites are from Bay City to El Campo.

Although this storm did give me an excuse to go buy a new cordless drill and skill saw.

If it keeps going south and west, we'll be trailering the horses out to the arena and trails and riding still.

Looks like Rockport so far. I think we'll see rain, and perhaps some pretty good surge in many areas around Houston. But, keep in mind, it could pull a bit north at any point. So, keep watching the forecast. I expect that it won't but you can't ever tell for sure until its on land....

One things that is handy to have for a Hurricane if you have a laptop is a HDTV tuner USB stick. It allows you to watch over the air (OTA) broadcasts from your PC with nothing but a USB stick. So, in case the power goes out, you can still keep up with weather updates...

woot had them on a one day deal for $89.00

But, you might look looking to see if one of the local retaliers like Best Buy has one so you aren't having to pay overnight fees, etc...

My Two favorite USB based tuners are the Pinnacle Hybrid Stick USB(Dual ATSC(Digital)/NTSC(Analog)) it comes with the tuner device which is a little bit bigger than a USB Flash memory stick, Antenna, Dongle for Svideo/Cable input and a small remote control, the cost is a around $130. I also like the Kworld Plus TV u330(Dual ATSC(Digital)/NTSC(Analog)), it comes with the USB Device about the same size as the Pinnacle, the Antenna is slightly smaller but it does not include a remote control, but the cost is $79 plus they have a $30 rebate at the moment (From Outpost.com) Both devices work with Vista and XP and work with Media Center. I like the software that comes with the Kworld(Arcsoft Total Media 3) as the Pinnacle software(TV Center Pro) for Vista is buggy at best.

The Pinnacle Pro is on sale at Circuit City for $79 this week BTW. The Mini is a new product and only avaliable via Woot right now.

There is an organized upper air trough moving in from the west that is stays organized will push the storm further north. Based on its speed vs the hurrican it does seem it will become a factor in the sotrms movement over the next 24 hours. I do believe as it stands that the dtorm will move further north impacting Freeport as of now.
