Default Best garage cabinets or storage systems

I'm in the planning stages of reorganizing my shop this spring and I've been looking at all kinds of cabinets to hold my various spare parts, power tools and etc. There are alot of great looking setups. I'm curious to see some open door photos of them full of your stuff.
How do people organize all your stuff inside the cabinets?
I'm trying to envision how they utilize the space best. Bins on the shelves? Loose stuff on shelves?

Pretty sure I remember watching an episode of Gearz and they did a thing on shop organization
Can't remember if it was Cromwell tools or something along those lines

Old file cabinets are great for storing power tools. Throw some moth ***** in to deter pests.

Check out this site:

We just bought a ton of stuff for a building we are setting up at work. Seems to be very good quality and the fit and finish have been really good. Currently they have a sale going on...

Ditto.
I think the price of some of these tool boxes is outrageous. That's why I refuse to pay for one of those double decker 40" wide rolling chests. I have the money but I don't see it being worth $1000. I'd love to see the markup on these things, its probably similar to the mark up we see on furniture (200-400%)

You can usually find sets of filing cabinets on Craigslist for cheap. The kind you want are usually 4-5' tall and 3-4' wide and have 3-4 wide, horizontal drawers. The kind that you really want have the front of the "drawer" lift up and back or down and back and then a shelf pulls out. They usually use the same strength and quality slides that those $1000 boxes use because after all, they are meant to hold 100 lbs of paper per drawer. I've even seen decent condition ones sitting outside of businesses by the dumpster! These cabinets are awesome for larger power tools, similar functioning power tools (all your sanders in one drawer and all the cordless tools in another, etc.,) or the sets of tools that need to stay in blow molded cases. Usually you can buy the cabinets used for $25-100 used and you'd be hard pressed to make a set of decent shelves for that price. Take the $800 you saved and buy a welder or smaller mill/drill!

I use steel pegboard in my garage for most of my tools and stuff.
Look up the Wall Control stuff on Amazon. You can mount shelves and tons of other stuff to it and it will support a lot of weight, and they're available in multiple colors.

That's not mine. I borrowed the picture lol. Mine is similar except I use 24v Kobalt tools and its just plain silver in a 4 x 3 grid of 16" x 48" panels.

Not to derail the thread, but what's your take on Kobalt? Looks like you like them....

LOVE their 24v tools. I have almost all of them.
For $130, I just picked up a Father's day deal on a deal for a trimmer and leaf blower that works with my 24V batteries.
$130 was a hell of a deal I thought, until I opened it and realized that it also came with a 4 AH battery ($50 by itself) and another charger ($20). Basically $60 for a leaf blower and trimmer.

I bought the biggest set they had, and had my brother in law go with me to Lowes. He bought one for himself, and used his military discount on both of them.
They work as good as any of the bigger brands, but at a much cheaper price. Warranty is great, and Lowes gave me zero hassle when I had to return the charger that I ran over, or the drill that quit working after I found it submerged in a bucket of water and oil with no idea how many days it had been there.

Any tricks to keep pegboard hooks in place?

Had most of my small hand tools hanging but over time a lot of those hooks popped out and fell behind the bench. Those little plastic locking tabs didn't last long either.

That happens a lot with wooden pegboard, thats why I only use metal.

New age fan as well. Good quality. Just don't buy from Amazon. Everyone came from them bent and twisted multiple times. Ended up returning and purchasing though Menards who drop shipped them and they were perfect.

I have the New Age Bold series and really like them. Great quality.

Last year right after I installed them.
