Cheap and Mandrel Bender do not go hand in hand. Run a google search and see what comes up. I think they are quite expensive ~ $8,000.00.

A manual tubing bender runs about $1,000 while an exhaust bender will cost you upwards of $4,000.00+. That is why most people who are doing turbo projects buy the mandrel bent tubing pre-bent from Summit and such.

LOL yeah, that's definately true. I wonder how hard it would be to make one? I have access to a full machine shop, and can get whatever hydraulic cylinders and whatnot that I would need.

LMAO! I wish $8K, I'd buy one tommorow.

Last MANDREL bender I priced was floating around $35K and that was without the tooling, etc. For the full set-up I wanted it was ~$65K. That was the cheapest I could find on the market and I'm holding off on that for now.

A fast draw bender, which will draw a bend clean no kinks, etc.), but still diminish the overall interior area (though not by much)can be had for just under $10K without tooling. A regular draw bender a few grand less. The fast draw isn't bad and the tubing isn't a restriction on most cars. Most. Whether people would buy exhausts with this bend remains to be seen. I haven't bought one yet to try.

This whole conversation has of course overlooked the other necessary inclusion... swagers.

if you follow mitchntx's link you'll see that you can get a mandrel bender for cheap the problem is that the largest one they show will only do up to 2 1/2 inch pipe. that would be great for most stuff but you still need 3 inch capacity to do any exhaust fabrication on the high performance end.

if your serious about wanting one, and $40K+ isn't out of your price range, send me a pm with an e-mail address to have somebody contact you.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think they're just a little bit out of my price range right now, hopefully someday though.

I have a jd2 manual tubing bender. does a good job and cost a little over $500 with a 1 3/4 die. Other dies are about $200 each and you can do a home brew hydraulic setup for $200-$600 depending on how resourceful you are. Bending is slow - a 90* bend takes 10 pulls over a 7 foot sweep but teh price is right.

That's a pretty good deal, but how big of a pipe can those bend? I was looking for something that did at least 3''.

Man 3"!!! you're not going to do that with the jd2. 2" max... and the 1 3/4 DOM that I have pulled takes a lot of effort so I imagine you'll be pulling the 2" stuff pretty hard.

Hawkcmc, that is for pipe not tube. the difference is pipe is measured by I.D. and tube is measured by O.D.. Some people have used that type bender but it only works for a few degrees before it starts kinking the tube. The jd2 on the other hand draws the tube around the die and barely makes any indention at all.
