Default Just bought a new plasma welder, $400 and it seems to work real well

Just bought a new plasma cutter that I read alot of stuff about on pirate4x4.com A bunch of guys have been raving about it.

I had been shopping around and most everything I've wanted is about $750-1000...ouch...

These guys "Parker" have one thatll cut up to 1/2" for $399 plus ship. So I ordered one up. I'll use it a bunch over the next month and see how it holds up but so far I've seen nothing but good things about the service and performance etc....

Anyone else used one?

that's bad ***! do you have some bigger pictures than the ones on that site? i was needing one BADLY when i was cutting up this car we had to spend more money on cutoff wheels and zawzall blades than what we got at the scrap yard! do you need a bottle for it? i'm new to this tool and always thought you needed tanks for it

I dont yet...but ill probably take some pictures of some stuff that I cut with it. I really dont have a reason to cut anything over 3/16" or so, but their video says itll severe up to like 3/4" inch! thats rediculous thick.

My Hobart handler 140 welder wont weld up to as thick as thing will cut, so im covered for anything I do.

It runs off my air compressor so thats cool.

Look on www.pirate4x4.com they have a little write up article that I read on the main page that sold me on it.

I wish I had 220 out in the garage Our house is old as hell, and our regular electric service isnt even that good. I usually blow fuses if Im using all the lights and my compressor kicks on. haha. That thing looks like a good deal though!

Actually I work for ParkerMP. Phil sr is one of the most brilliant men you will ever meet. Call and talk to either him, or Phil Jr and let them know Jimmy sent you. Expect free consumables as extra. I own and use the plasma and the TIG machines. If you live in arizona, come over to my house and i'll show you what they can do...

I know I'm a bit late on this thread. But I was just wondering where the consumables are available. Can I walk into just about any welding shop and buy new cups and electrodes?

Mine looks like standard consumables that match other brands like Hypertherm stuff.

Parker included some extras when I bought it....

I read that article and that thing definetly seems pretty pimp. The guy said he cleanly cut through a 1 inch plate. That's badass!

the costs on their site arent accurate.. Most of thier stuff is roughly half what thier website shows.

Seriously? That must cut into sales. At $400 I won't even blink to buy a plasma cutter, I was saving up for $1200 or so thinking that is what it would cost me. I hardly even need to use it very often, I just want it occasionally so a cheap one is what I really only want.

Thanks.

Heres a link to one of their ebays auctions, it has already ended but its showing thier tig/plasma combo for 599.

Theirs also a ongoing thread on here in the tool section discussing his machines in depth, its real recent to.
