You could try some long drill bits for one.
Realisticly, an oxy/acetylene torch, used VERY carefully to melt the head of the bolt off, would be the fastest. Extreme care would have to be taken though that little heat gets conducted to the TC or you can damage internal brazing. The flexplate will act as a shield for the TC somewhat, but the flexplate will require replacement once you subject it to such heat.
If you can get some kind of cut-off wheel in there, you could also try cutting the head off like that.
Best of luck!

how will i get the rest of it out?

You could start the car with only the one bolt in and do a good neutral drop...... Ive seen all 3 bolts get sheared if you do it "right" ![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
seriously though i am yet to yank an auto trans from a ls1 car is there any way to get vise grips on it? What about trying to yank the trans and leave the convertor attached to the flexplate just yank it off the pump.

I don't know if it'd be possible, but you might be able to slip a (larger) nut over the top of the head of the bolt, and weld the nut to the head. I've had that done on stripped out nasty bolts before (like female torx headed bolts that get stuck), works great.

You could dremel off the head to get two flat,
parallel walls and use an adjustable wrench.
Not so much that there's nothing but socket hole,
not so little that you can'r get a bite.
Then again, you could maybe take the head off
clean, pull the trans, and have plenty of room
to work at extracting the shank. Like drill and
chase w/ tap if you have room and a good eye.
Don't want to mung the receiving threads any....
Unless you're tossing the converter, then toss
what's left of the bolt with it.

Use an air hammer with the chisel adapter. First you hit it straight on to cut a small notch in the bolt, then use that notch to spin the bolt with the air hammer in the right direction to loosen it. Once the bolt spins, you can usually take it out by hand.
It literally takes seconds to do it that way, sometimes I won't even use the 8mm allen bit on any of the TC bolts. The longer the bolts are there, the worse they are. I've also heard of heating the bolts to melt the thread sealant some of them seem to have, I never have had to.

I tried all of that stuff just a couple of weeks ago, none of it worked. i went to sears, got a propane heat torch, and they had some sort of stripped bolt head grabbers that act like an easy-out, but is for the heads. it worked great, just tapped it on with a hammer, and it slowly took the heated bolt out.
