Google Ads?
I've only used the sponsors on this website because I trusted the judgement of this website, and could usually find feedback about the said sponsor. Also, sometimes, if my mind needed a break from reading some in depth technical articles, I would scroll down the alphabetical list of sponsors and click on one I've never heard of, just to see what they had and what they charged.
I was proud to be a member of this site, because of it's stature among car sites in general. I knew if someone heard of ls1tech, they most likely knew what they were talking about. I would refer anyone and everyone to this site, from people I deliver pizza to, to working at HEB (when people would ask about my car, or vice versa), or sometimes video games (sometimes my username is CamaroZ28, which generates questions).
Now, I don't want to refer people here, because it'd make me look bad for referring them to a site that advertises products that don't work and well known scams. I'd be indirectly advertising for these products I don't stand behind. It wouldn't make sense..
It doesn't matter how much good information is on a site, none of it can be utilized when it's hard to search, and every page takes 30 seconds to load. I have personally disregarded a site due to the google links associated with words in a thread. It insults my passion for cars and learning, and tries to take advantage of my love for speed. Most of my money, that I work hard for, goes to my car, and I need to know that I'm buying from a trusted business, with someone that I can personally talk to, and/or other car enthusiasts' testimonies. I can't trust a site in general that advertises businesses they've never even heard of, where the only qualification is a checkbook. It wouldn't be a good purchase on my part.
I hope that IB learns from this thread, and changes it for the better. I will not spend money at places I can't trust, and have personally lost a lot of respect for this site. I have respect for the people, just not the integrity of the site.
Time to check out myls1.com...

and vendetta, i am not spamming. Its another enthusiast site! Im not an owner there, nor mod or anything. just a member, and sent you a PM............ Also, thanks for removing my sig..............
Hate to asy it as a long time member here. But I think no matter what anyone says, posts, or does will change anything.
I'm sure Google makes tons of money doing this all the time, buying highly populated sites and turning them into $$ for themselves.
I can assure you, the amount of revenue this site will bring google before its death will be well worth it to those who did it. We already know they care nothing for the site and information here, why would they unless they were avid users?
In fact, there is only one guy I know with any relative power at google who has a passion for cars. He lives local here, and is loaded as he does all the upkeep for googles website. His name is ben, and he's posted here before. He's more popular on local LS forums.

Cheers everyone. I will continue to post here whether this site meets it's death or not.

Just throwing in my 2 cents, but if everyone blocks the ads and nobody clicks on the ads I think the issue will take care of itself.
I never thought people actually clicked on those ads, but I guess I am wrong.

I love Google the search engine, but hate the google ads... I'd be pissed if I was a paying sponsor too. What about if we just don't click those ads, while they realize it was a waste?
Here is an example of direct competion to paying sponsors...Or so I'd guess, the site doesn't even work right. BowtieOverdrives.com
I'm sure all of the transmission sponsors are glad to see this ad posted in place of the one that they pay for...
I understand that the ads create revenue, it is just a bit of BS to know what those places are paying & getting the "from behind" on this.
I doubt not clicking the ads will make it go away, I know that is not the only way the site is compensated.

Bring back the sponsors ads
I love google as much as the next guy but it has no place here with all the great sponsors we have. The reason I come here is because of the sponsors and there wealth of knowledge. If I want some cheap crap from an unreliable source I go directly to google not ls1tech.com and then the damn stupid google ads.

Talk about a sell out!
Whoreing the site in a blatent money grab, Screwing the long time sponsors that helped make the site what it is today and damaging the performance of the site in the proccess.
