Default What Motor Oil You Running?

Did a Search and couldn't find a thread in the western section were everyone had there $.02 about what motor oil they were running.

So Lets hear it!!!! (in this order)

Brand
Weight/Type
Where You Buy It / How Much You Pay
How Long You Been Using It
Anything else you wanna add

(I was thinking of doing a poll, but there are so many brands/types to choose it would be all over the place)

-Royal Purple
-5w-30 Synthetic
-Santa Ana Speed / Mike cuts me a deal from time to time but lets say $40 for 5qt.
-Ive Run it in my: 68' Elco SS, 01 T/A WS6, and now my 95 Impala. So about 4 years.
-People say RP has lost its quality over the years which I cant tell because I dont run race motors. A friend has shown me test results comparing AMSoil and a lot of others, so to get him off my back i told him id run it once if he'd shut the hell up about it.

Mobil or castrol synth. Whatever is cheaper at the time. 5/30 in the winter and 10/40 in the summer. Usually around $30 for 6qts at walmart

1. Castrol gtx
2. 10w30
3. Star auto 20 bucks for 5.5 quarts
4. In the impala, 04 chevy truck, 99 chevy truck, 94 blazer.
5. On my impala. I went around 2500miles before it started to get dark color.

But I run 15w40 rotella on all my diesel trucks and I plan to run it on the ls1.

For me;

Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic in both my ls1 and my daily driver Grand AM
Seems like I can usually get 5 quarts for around $30-35 from Wal-Mart or autozone.

Spun a rod bearing on a stock 145k mile shortblock while racing it and shifting at 6500 rpms for the last 50k miles... Stock rod bolts are the weakest link in a short block...that has nothing to do with the type of oil I use...

Also I'm not the one who spun a MAIN bearing...I remember digging out bearing material that was packed in your oil pick up tube, remember?

Lol, you were shifting a stock lt1 at 6500? And for the record, that motor was only in my car for like 1000 miles lol it was a dud even before it was put in.

I'd be interested to here everyone's stories here about types of oil and signs of wear/damage they've seen as a result.
