that sure is something... they recommend 11-12" for their 315/35-17 a6 and r6 tire. Must be a drag tire thing...

Cool. You will still have a larger contact patch on a 10-11 inch rim.

From the 2009 Hoosier race Tire Spec catalog:

Item # 17332 Recommended rim: 9-11"
Measured rim: 11"
So they got that tread size on a 11" rim, anything smaller than that will give you less contact area.

Thats cause most 315's are TOO ****** big for a 9.5" wheel & are unsafe when mounted on a stock wheel smartass. You might want to know WTF your talkin about before you go talkin ****, especially to a mod & your new to the site. It's his job to ensure unsafe information doesn't spread & people go out & just start buying any 315 tire & mounting it on stock wheels tryin to be cool.

Yes, there are a select few 315 tires you can get away with on a 9.5" stock wheel. But thats just b/c they run skinny compared to most other 315 tires. This is a topic thats been beat to death way too many times & always ends with some smartass tryin to mouth off to mods.

Personally I would never run any 315 tire on a stock wheel, it's just not smart period. If you need a tire that big either upgrade wheels or run a drag rim with a good sticky tire.

^werd

Just thinking about a tire that wide on a 9" rim is nuts, the ride wouldnt be safe and definitely not comfortable.

Go ahead and do it, tell us how it works out

I think a company like Hoosier knows better than some dipshit like you if that is unsafe, unless you're in a tire R&D than you're opinion is just an opinion like mine and others.

I don't think they would put that info on their site if it could lead to a lawsuit or someone getting hurt

P.s most of the 315's are too wide but some aren't therefore you can't say its unsafe, you got to check with each tire manufacturer. Nitto's still say a 10.5" wheel is minimum but hoosier says you can put their tire on a 9"-11" wheel so i think they would know better

Dude your not very bright. Did you even read my post?? I said there are "SOME" that will fit. I never said the brand you mentioned wouldn't work. Reading comp. owns you, so I wouldn't be knockin someone like myself who has been around these cars long enough to know what will & will not work.

My opinion if FACT. And I get my facts from personal experience & watching others experiences on this board. For you to knock the mods for not wanting unsafe information posted shows your level of intelligence. I don't see why you have sand in your vagina anyway, you followed forum rules & posted the manufacture's information showing rim size fitments.

So exactly what is your point?? Tryin to prove something most people on this forum either already know or can simply find in a search in this section?? If you don't like how the forums are run then by all means

One more negative to running the 315 is you lose that much more tire height. 40 with the 275 vs a 35 with the 315.

i don't care about you talking ****,this is not a dick measuring contest all i'm saying is that you and the mods have no proof that putting ALL 315's on a 9" rim is unsafe and since hoosier states that putting THEIR 315 on a 9''-11'' rim is recommended(SAFE) i think they have more experience than you and the mods atleast in the tire department

LOL, so now your a tire guru, give me a ****** break dude & stop spreading bad information before you take a long or neverending vacation from here.

You go run any brand 315 you want & be a ****** dumbass, the rest of us who care about our saftey & others on the road with us will continue to run the proper size tires on our cars.

Unless your gonna actually contribute some good to this forum why don't you just ****** leave with your infinite tire knowledge. (which is very limited to almost none)

Vacation from here sure show me how you're gonna do that please do, and while you at it call Hoosier and tell them you know more about tires than they do since it seems you're the "TIRE GURU"

Man it's pointless with you. We already established that the brand of tire you are talkin about specifically say from the manufacturer that it can be used on a stock width rim. So stop being a ****** idiot.

Then you say the people on this site have no proof that ALL 315 tires won't fit. That was never stated. What was stated was that certain one can but they are very limited. NO not ALL 315's will fit a stock width rim, thats a FACT weather your pea brain wants to believe it or not. Like I said, go ahead & go buy whatever brand you want & mount it up then.

I have been around this site & seen first hand that ALL 315's will NOT fit a stock rim without risking safety. And I will not sit by quietly while you make uneducated statements like we have no proof. Why don't you go look at every company who produces a 315 & then come back with all this info & paste it so we can prove not ALL 315 are made to fit a stock width rim. I bet you find 95% of them suggest nothing smaller than a 10-10.5" wheel.

Don't try to talk about technical facts to people that know more than you about said subject. I also suggest you learn to comphrend what you read before you post cause your getting owned by facts.

did you not read the STICKY on top of this forum you're the one owned by Facts(not opinions)

here's what the sticky said

315/35R17's DO NOT FIT 9" or 9.5" WHEELS!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This will not be discussed. I will not tolerate that kind of post. If I see if posted it will be deleted no questions asked.

Read the tire manufacturers recommendations.

If you are foolish enough to try it fine . . .

If you find a tire shop ignorant enough to install them fine . . .

But encouraging others to recklessly experiment, NO. Do not PM me in regards to this, I will not reply. If you don't like my stance then complain to Brains or Nineball.

Sincerely,

The Tire ****

so i've read the tire manufacturers recommendations and it seems that 99% of them agree with that except for Hoosier , SO THEREFORE STATEMENTS THAT SAY YOU CAN'T PUT 315'S ON A 9" RIM OR THAT IS UNSAFE ARE B.S MOST YOU CAN'T BUT NOT ALL
and i never once said i know more about tires than you but you keep saying that you know more about the tires than me, great i don't give a **** and you got 3400 posts and been a member since 2005 i can care less about that too so you can
