Default 26x11.5x17 M/T v.s. 275/40/17 Hoosiers

I have a H/C Camaro with 3.73 gears and stock suspension. I am stuck between buying the 275/40/17 Hoosier dr's which are 25" and the 26x11.5x17 M/T's which are 26". I am not worried about the rain. I just want to know which one will hook and pin me to the seat. Help me out guys...

On a full weight car with stock suspension the MT ET Streets will hook better than any drag radial being a bias ply tire, however it will wear out quicker too. The Drag Radial will hook too just drop tire pressure and some VHT lol. Good luck bro.

The 275/40s are actually 25.66" tall, so not much difference there. Auto cars work well with drag radials. I'd go with the Hoosiers.

Either will work, if the car was an M6 you'd be better off with a lil more sidewall flex that the Hoosiers offer. I've used both and based on hook, stiffer sidewall for stability, and better wear of the MTs, I'd go with them.

Sorry I misread the thread. I'd go with neither of those. With an auto you don't need that much sidewall flex; if the car was an M6 it would be another story. You'd have a better tire all around with a 275/40/17 MT ET Street Radial over the Hoosiers and the old biased ply MT ET Streets.

He's not looking for an all around tire, he's looking for traction. Hoosiers hook just as well as M/T radials, and weigh several lbs less.

I have the M/T ET street dr's and I spin them like I have butter on them. They're ok on the street and suck at the track. I need a real tire and don't want to waste money.

I know a few buddys that have almost dipped into the 10s with stock suspension Auto cars with a 275/40/17 MT DR. Not a Bias Ply..the Radial..

Sounds like track prep sucks and need to find the right air pressure to run them at!

What 60fts have you cut and what kind of tires?

Id find you a set of cheap 16in wheels and though a Bias Ply on it if your worried about getting it to hook..

my 60ft was like 2.0 and 2.1. I went on test and tune night so track prep probably did suck. I was spinning all of 1st and a little in 2nd...
