I need new tires for the TA but not sure what to get. I'm looking at NT05 or Kumho Exta XS. I want the same tire all around. I need 275/40r17 & 315/35r17. I have bfg drag radials on the back now and what worries me about the Nittos is the size of the 315s.
How much smaller will they look on the 11" wheel? The Kumhos are larger than the Nittos but I like the nittos a little more.
Are there other options besides Goodyears? I don't drive the car much... Maybe a little more than1k miles a year

I'm running the NT05's and the 315 run a true 315, not like their DR 315 that is smaller. The tires are great in dry traction and cornering, I can break the rear loose in the corners, but I have 4.10 gears too. I didn't have to do any type of wheel well moddification, tires fit well and I am running ZR1. Great tire for the price, I ordered my thru Discount Tire. I bet you hardly if at all drive in the rain so I do recommend them. If you see more track time, I hear the NT05DR is a great tire as well.
Here are a couple pics of them on the car

Thanks for the reply.
have you had to drive in the rain with these tires? I got caught in the rain once with my drag radials but didnt have any problems. I don't drive in the rain but I've gotten caught in a surprise shower a couple times

Yeah I've been in the rain in them, they hold their own if doing normal driving and not pushing it. The rear will break loose with some throttle in it. There are nice channels down the middle to better disperse the water than a DR so it will be fine.
I've haven't pushed the tires to the limit but the cornering is great and very little road noise from the tires. I'm a Nitto fan too, thats why I went with these over other the guys.

I like mine. They don't like heavy rain but they actually do great in light rain/wet roads. I've had then on the road coarse in the rain too and did surprisingly well. They are far better than the GSD3s I had before.

The NT05's are absolutely awesome tires. I have them in 275/40/17s on my old 97 TA, they had amazing dry traction, and surprisingly great wet traction. They didn't offer them in a 315 for 18" tires, so I passed on getting them for my 01. If they ever do offer them, I'll be throwing them on. I wasn't ready to go as far as the NT05R, so I got a Toyo Proxes TQ 315/35/18 drag radial, that seems more street friendly..

I have 295/35/18 NT05s on the back of my vette. I love them, kick *** tires. I've run them in some light rain and they were fine. They broke loose when I got on it, but show me a tire that wont on a wet road.

I have the NT05s all around in 275/40/17 and have pushed them to their limits in street use. The grip is outstanding for a street tire and the sidewalks are nice and stiff. I squealed all four tires at roughly 60 entering a 25 corner, but still had control. I'm car #3: http://www.motorgen.com//vid/showphoto.php/photo/1217
In the rain they are safe if you drive carefully, not much wet traction going on freeway onramps but its easy to regain traction or control.

I also have NT05's and LOVE them. I am only running 295 on the rears but they look great!
I have driven twice with them in the rain and had absolutely no issues.
I highly recommend this tire!

1) The mileage is decent.
2) The level of performance for a street tire is awesome.
3) I feel safer when driving with them. Safer than drag radials, or other street or race compound tires.

I tried to order a set from my local discount tire and the guy was giving the run around. I got the filling he didn't want to order so I told him to forget it. I'm just going to order online. Its a lot less hassle

i got about 14k on my first set with several auto-crosses and lots of street abuse. i love these tires, about the best street tire for the money. they are very good in the rain, almost every event i was at last year had at least half of a session in the rain and i never was uncomfortable at all on these tires.
i just bought a new set for the fronts and im looking to replace the rears for next season.

I just got done beating up on my NT05's at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI last weekend and these things are a blast! 275s front/ 315s rear. While tracking, it takes the usual lap or 2 to build heat, but then they bite very well.
In the rain, I can easily do 70's and be just fine in traffic.
Compared to my old sets of BFGs and Goodyears, this is my favorite set of tires yet, and for the buck you can't go wrong.
