Default How does going to 15x10 rear and skinnies affect handling?

I love the look of the big tire/small tire old school muscle car. I want you guys to be honest and describe how driving you car changed after you put 15" rears with narrow fronts on your car. ABS work okay? Does the car still handle close to factory? What is your combo? Fitment issues?
thanks to all that post.

I think you will find that combimation limited to track use for the most part. I would not drive far on the street like that.

Thanks Steve.
I should clarify: I intend 15x10 with Drag radials out back and 15x6 with 205 radials up front, NOT true drag skinnies. Anyone running this?

205s will be better than 165s for sure.
I don't have any constuctive info on putting skinnies on a 4th gen, but I will say that I ran them on my 69 Chevelle and hated them.
Braking, cornering, ride, steering, wet driving, etc... all sucked.
Just my .02

Dave - thanks. Yeh I hated skinnies on my GTO and my Prostreet 70 Firebird. Put 15x7 up front with like a 215/70/15 and that made a huge difference. Even though the rear was washy (15x12 with 31x16.5 Sportsmans and a SPOOL!) I could at least take corners without the front end plowing straight.
Anyone running 15"drag radials and a 205/225 front radial have a comment?

I know of a guy that used 17X6 up front with 205's and he said turning was "ok" and he had 16X10 with drag radials. He street races alot so i will take his work on it.

Well, this is on my '67, but maybe it will help. Fronts are 195/60/15, rears are 275/60/15 BFG DR. I don't really try to thrash the car around corners anyway, but when I do drive it normally, the only bad effects seem to be a "pulling" effect when hitting grooves on the freeway. You get used to it. The straight line fun is well worth it, IMO. Oh yeah, rain is a definate no-no.

Yea, I almost consider my car more dangerous on a radial, considering if you hit it you are sidesways instantly.....
