What regular street tires are you using on the dragstrip & your best 60' with them?
I've found that simply doing a search using key words such as tires and traction or tires and 60 gets me nothing but the same results where posters are talking about handling. I want to specifically know what regular street tires are good for the dragstrip. When I say regular, I'm not talking about drag radials--I'm talking about street tires that can last longer than 20,000 miles with mature, civil driving and occasional dragstrip runs. With that said, let me repeat my question: what regular street tires are you using on the dragstrip and what was your best 60' with them?
With 48,000 miles on my factory GSC's aired at 30 psi, my best 60 foot time in my bone-stock car was only 2.075. I now drive with Continental ContiExtremeContacts, but I haven't had any runs with them yet. I don't think they will be the best regular street tires for the dragstrip and I'm only using them now, because they were a little too big for my '88 Mustang GT.
Thanks in advance for the info.

My best 60' with my 245/50-16 Kumho Ectsa 711's on my 99 A4 Z28 w/ 3.23's, exhaust, and a lid is 1.965. they probably had about 60% tread left on them then. My usual 60' times with them are somewhere between 1.9 and 2.1

My buddy had an auto f-body with bfgoodrich comp t/a (not drag radail) and had a 1.9 60 ft. I think its hard to find this tire because of the g-force t/a but from what my friends with f-bodies say thats a bad *** everyday tire.

Last night I went 1.919 on some 245/50/16 Firestone Fuzions with a stock converter and 3.73 gears.
I run them at 24# hot and then spin them over on the way to the lane, go around the box, and then give them a little burnout... i.e. not enough to smoke them bad, but enough to get a little smoke.

My buddy had the stock converter with the bfgoodrich comp t/a's. When he put a big converter he had to step up to the drag radials.

Man, you guys must have some good track prep. My best is a 2.3. I couldn't imagine getting a sub 2.0 with street tires. Guys are barely getting sub 2 seconds with DR's where I'm at.

Totally stock I ran 2.15's-2.2's all day long, track prep or not. With Dayton Daytona ZR's and 2600 stall I ran 1.89-1.95's all day long. Then I added a 3400 stall and is impossible to hook up, had to get nitto dr's and run 1.70-1.71 now, better times to come.
