I went through a local car wash today and my factory 275s fit OK. I was wondering if 315s fit through most car washes?
My 275s are 11 inches wide and 315 are about 13 inches wide; right?

Unless carwashes have recently replaced those large spinning typhoons of rubber strips with beautiful women clad in skimpy bikinis and DD breasts... I wouldn't take my car in a drive-thru wash.
BUT! Take a tape measure and check to see if your tires will fit in the area available for the wheels.

We have some express washes around here that are state of the art badass! I run my cobalt through them every now and then but not the Camaro. I guess I would though if I couldnt wash my car.

So a 13 inch width tire will fit most car washes?
I've used car washes for 30 years and never had a problem. Some folks don't have the time to wash their own cars each week.

You risk damaging your rims on the metal tire guides and blowing out your door's window seals over time. The automatic drying mechanisms can easily take paint off of the front valance if it is even remotely cracked/chaffed.
I think even the user manual is against it.

...those kinda risks I have been taking for 30 years - no damage yet.
..some like me wonder why anyone would waste time to wash their own car?
Anyway, will 315s fit most car washes?

As you can tell, a good many people on here do not trust the automatic car washes, so I don't think you'll find many good, reliable data points by asking this question on this forum. Your best bet is to carry along a trusty tape measure and find out for yourself...

I got to say while I would NEVER drive my Hawk thur any automated car wash, my daily driver does go thru weekly, for $5 ($3 on WED!!!) I get the express which just really drags those strips across my truck, then I stop down the street and use a m/f towel to finish the drying process, I spray my white letters down before I go in with Westleys and once I am finished with the m/f towel wipe down, I hit the tires with some tire foam for a lil shine. About once every three months a good wax job and my daily driver looks better than 99% of the cars in the lot where I park, its black too. FWIW....my 315's and my weekend toy stay the f*ck out of the drive thru, YMMV.

This post was NOT designed to ask if you were using cash washes.
This is 2007 and those who don't use car washes are backwards dopes that have time to waste; unfortunately, I do not. "You all" that do not use car washes must be hill-billy's; right?
Anyway, my question is simple; can 315 inch tires run through an automated car wash?
Please do not respond if you wash you car in your driveway; I dont give a ratt's butt!

Car washes have become more freindly in recent times. So, more people who wash their cars at home should take notice.
Anyway, I don't need opinions from hand car washers; their value to me = zero.
All I wanted to know is if tires 315 inches wide would make it through the average machanical car wash.
Those who wash by hand - need not reply to this post.
Thanks...

First off, you come on here asking for opinions, but with stereotypical comments about where people live will get you no where 'new yawker'
kidding
All washes are different (as are the 315 tires between makes), but I would think if you judged the height of the wash you'd be able to tell whether or not they'd fit. Meaning that taller vehicles (trucks) would need more width for the tires to fit. Just be selective, if you have a favorite I'd check and at least get an idea how wide of a tire theyd accept before driving through.
