Default Anyone with BFG KDW tires....

I got a couple good replies to my last thread about KDWs, but I'm really looking for a bigger base of opinions. What I would like to try this time is to get a comparsion of the KDWs vs stock tires (mainly Eagle F1s). The F1s were totally useless on the back, and the Nitto DRs that I have now are 100 times better, but I'd like to know how much of an improvement I could expect with the KDWs over the F1s I used to have?

Basically, anyone that has or is using KDWs, how do you like them compared to stock? I'm really only looking at this particular tire right now for a few different reasons. If I don't get them, than I'll just keep my Nittos. I have a new set of wheels on the way, so I'd like to make a choice soon.

TIA

Skip the KDW's and get the KD's.

Not sure waht you want to know.

Yhe KDWs have significantly better grip. The rim gaurd is a plus. They are a bit noisier than the f1s, handling is awsome. They have stiffer sidewalls so the ride is a bit rougher.

This is what I'm looking for! A basic comparsion between the stock tires and F1s. Good info, thanks.

Any more reviews like this would be great.

As for the KDs, two problems. 1) More than I want to spend. 2) Not enough tread wear for the price (might as well just stick with the Nitto DRs over the KDs)

Just gotta know the right people. I paid $200 for each rear 315 and $175 for each front 275. They are pretty much a dry tire only. I've seen people get 30,000 out of them. I don't expect much more than 20,000 out of mine.

Very happy with the KDW's on my Berger SS. Ride is good, handling is great, although with 435 horsepower, they spin like the wind at the dragstrip . . .

Wow. 20-30K isn't bad at all, I really didn't think they lasted past about 15K. I don't see myself getting a price like that around here. Wet traction does not concern me (car sees no rain), but price is still a concern. I'll give it some thought though.

Xsta Z 28... I figured they wouldn't make much of a drag tire, but that's what I have my spare set of BFG DRs for But I would like to know, how do they (KDW) grab off a roll (say 10-30mph)? I used to have an issue with my F1s starting to break free with a downshift to 1st and again right before the shift to second (A4 trans), and that was before the cam. Do you have any issues like this with the KDWs? Thanks.

gotta love that "25 mph punch" in the A4's huh?! my KDW's do not break loose from a 20-25 punch in the summer time, but i'm pretty certain in winter time they would. hot pavement in the summer seems to make a big difference (that combined with the heat/humidity).

Yeah, sometimes I miss the F1s when I'm going about 25-30 and still want to light em up when I nail it. The KDWs hook much better.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Sounds like the KDWs are quite a step up from the F1s.

Anyone else that wants to chime in with their opinoins is welcome.

could be because ive got little 245's but my kdw's spin a little bit when i punch it from 15 or so and im on the stock converter. not bad enough that ive got to let off but theres a noticeable difference between them and the drag radials so you can tell that they spin. they arent bad tires, just not what i expected as far as straightline grip. hopefully the 275's are much better.
