Default Fender Roller worked great for my 315's!

I rented a fender roller from:

http://fenderroller.com

And it worked great on my fenders to help clear the 315's. After I got the tire off, it only took 10-15 minutes for each side. I reccomend this tool for anyone wanting to install 315's. Even with the stock suspension, the tires still hit the fender unless you roll them.

I had my fenders rolled without renting a tool... I have 315/35/17 Nitto DR on the rear(17X11's). With the help of a rubber hammer.

I'm thinking of doing this.
Can't you use a baseball bat to roll the fenders?
I thought I've heard of someone doing it that way.

Seems alot cheaper, any tips on doing it the free way?

That's to insure the tool comes back Actually I would have no problem with someone keeping the FenderRoller once they rented it. I would even send the difference between the $550 deposit and $495 tool cost back.

...Can't you use a baseball bat to roll the fenders?...
That's a perfectly fine way for a lot of people to do it. Some people want to use the tool that was designed for the job though. There is a LOT less worry about mangling your car up when using the FenderRoller too. Personally I would much rather gently massage the lip into shape with a nice tool than use a rubber mallet to bang in the lip, or using a ball bat to roll it. This tool applies an even pressure in a proper arcing motion to roll the lip and make it look like a factory job.

Thanks for the letting everyone know about the tool, but I'm not sure this post will be left here or not. I am not a site sponsor (but hope to be if I can rent enough of these tools out) and I don't believe non-sponsor links can be posted. I'll leave that up to the mods to decide though.

im having trouble with my 295/35/18's, so far the dealer has modified the inner wells and now its hitting the outer and i was wondering if anyone knew if the dealer can do this and if so howmuch would it cost. also my panhard still needs to be adjusted as well as the roll.

I would think any kind of body shop would roll your fenders before a dealer would.Could be wrong though.

The fender roller people are OUT!!!!!!!!! There is NO way that I will spend 500 bucks for something that can EASILY be made myself. Or there are a couple of different ways to acheive this. I have heard of taking a razor and cutting the paint line on the outermost edge so that it will not crack the paint on the rest of the fender(I dunno if it works though).

Where did you get $500?

Yes, to BUY a fender roller it's about that.

To RENT a fender roller, it's $75 for 3 days.

Not bad considering a body shop would of charged me $200 to do it not to mention I couldn't find a shop to do this that wasn't 50 miles away.

I had one other guy use it with me and we split the cost so for me, it was $37 plus shipping. The more people you can get to do this, the cheaper it will be.

I WOULD NOT USE A BASEBALL BAT! It's not as precise not to mention the center of the hub doesnt match the fender lines (which means there is more tire towards the rear fender than the front).

I hammer would work but I would think you would get an un-even, deformed lip from that.

Just my opinion here, but if you want it done right, use the right tool. Why skimp on this?

There's some pictures of some rolled Camaro fenders here:
http://u2.netgate.net/~jshapiro/z28/315s/
He had a body shop do his and they rolled the fenders a little too much IMO. The fenders were pushed out where mine isn't. You can't even tell it was done on mine until you get underneath and look at the lip.

I'm not trying to advertise for anyone here but I did want to mention this works and Shawn (ta25th) was very professional. I had to pay the deposit and I got it all back after he got the roller back.

You can BUY this fender rolling tool for $60 and own it forever.. (or re-sell, rent it)

http://www.chicanesport.com/product_catalog.html

I saw a write-up on this tool in a magazine (rolling an fbody fender) and it worked VERY well..

The baseball bat idea will work but if you F'up then your going to have a crinkled quarter or messed up paint. Call the guys over at Chicane and maybe they can send you a PDF of the procedure with thier tool

Best of luck.

How does that tool work??? Looks like it just crabs the lip and bend it. Did it crack the paint?

Here's a pic of the fender roller:

So theres two different tools you can use.
