as usual I jumped before looking.
I started looking into brake upgrades and the vette fronts seem to be a good way to go. So I started looking into rims that clear em. Im not much for chrome so black was the way to go!

soo after I bought them I had the flash of stupidity... will they fit.
I looked into the numbers on the sticky and it looks like I will have to modify the inner fenders of the rear or get some spacers...

now my question is did I do good, or are these rims junk and will look like *** on my car? Im not so good on dancing the 'rice line'. I typically go with what ever I think will look trick but later often regret it.

You should be fine. My brother had to do a little bit of pounding on the rear inner and he had to roll his fenders a little. It all differs from car to car and what tire you run. Not all tires are the same width even if they are 295s or 305s or 315s.

They will fit fine and look great, paint the calipers silver or black and get rid of the front plate lol...

You might have to pound and cut a little bit of metal on the inners, but other wise youll be good

LOL thats what started all of this...
last owner
along with green intirror lights
green turnsignal bulb condoms that look like they caught on fire at one time
silver stickers on all the badges and all the logos that are now peeling
and grey pinstripes down the sides for some reasion.....

I started thinking about powdercoating them something less um...
and then I started thinking whats the point of just powdercoating stock calipers.

which led me to the vette brake upgrade

which led me to the fact that I need larger rims if I go that rout

......

Its never easy in my world...

lol as long as it was the previous owners mistake and not yours bro no worries. some people do rediculous things with these cars, but it happens. Id go with a gloss black or a silver on the calipers, the silver would stand out nice and would look good if you got some stainless steel emblems and stuff.

Yep I was thinking the same.
I have some nice chrom powdercoat just sitting on the shelf. Its less of a chrome and more of a bright smooth silver. I think I will take the vette calipers, grind off all the lettering and try to polish them up best I can, then hit them and the rotor centers with powder.
It should look hot.

I would have gotten 18" x 9.5" front and the 18" x 10.5" rear . . . . I do not like staggered diameters on F-Cars.

Yeah, I know what your saying. I dont like them on camaros but i think they look sweet on firebirds simply because the fribrids look thicker in the back end.

Im starting to shop around and your right it would have been alot easier to pick up 18's on all four corners. I want to get Nitto 555r's but for front tires all they make is 275/40/17 and rears 285/35/18 so if I want to go that rout the front sidewalls will be thicker than the rears which will look like butt.

well here we go, revision 2 on this...
looks likes I am switching it up.
The people I bought the rims from Had these posted for sale

18x9.5 and 18x10.5
this will allow me to run
nittio 555's 275/35zr18 up front
and the 555r's 305/35zr18 in the rear

I contacted them and they said it was no prob to switch

Im not a big fan of the two piece rim look or polished lips but i think I like the drak graphite alot better than just black. I also like the fact that the tires will look even and matched. also I can run the 555's up front and be able to brake and turn in the rain but also have the 555r's in the rear for good launches in the summer.
