I'd say go with the 305's. I run a 295/35/18 out back on an 18x10 wheel and it fills the wheel wells nicely.
I used to run a 315/35/17, which I won't argue looks great, but I got sick of rubbing, even after the BFH mod and rolling the fender lips.

What reasoning would you not go over a 305? Curious myself because i am also looking at purchasing 315/30r18's for my 10.5 wheels. Looking to closer match the correct diameter to the front wheel (275/35r18) so my speedometer will be most accurate. i just changed from 295/35r18's to 295/30r18's and now see a 15 mph faster difference in my speedo. I only put the 295/30's on because they were free Michelin Pilot sport PS2's from a porsche customer where I work. Just trying them out to see if I really want to spend that kind of money on this brand of tire. The BFG Comp T/A's werent much help in the traction dept. (thats what came with the car when I purchased it)
I really prefer Michelins, but I already have rubbing issues with the 295's (no mods). Mostly cured by adding a 1/4" spacer, but still there under very hard turning. I figure I'll be right back to square one if I step up to the 315's.
