Completely new system, is sound deadening worth it?
I've spend damn near $1000 dollars on my car audio overhaul and was wondering if sound deadening is worth all the effort and how hard it actually is. I've heard we need about 50 sq ft for the whole car but i think i might just do the doors, sails, and truck and not do the whole car like under seats and all that jazz.

I have been doing some research on sound deadener over the last week and decided that I will use RaaMAT on my doors and possibly the hatch area when I finish up my modest system. RaaMAT comes in 62.5 sq-ft rolls for about $119.
Current system (front speakers and 4 channel and yet to be installed, current running stock monsoon amp/speakers)
Alpine CDA-9884 HU
Alpine Type R 10'' in Stealth Box
Kicker ZX400.1 Amp (rated at 480W)
Kicker ZX200.4 Amp (bridged at 100W+/Channel x 2)
CDT CL-E61CV Components (110W/Channel RMS)
I'll be running front speakers only and no rear fill so I figure the most important part of my install would be to "tighten up" the doors to improve the sound quality and get rid of any rattles/vibrations that can cause irritation.

this is a good read

I would put at least 1, 2 layers preferably on the inside of the outer door skin, and 1 layer under the dash pad.
I've been really impressed with Second Skin's products.
RaaMAT is also some good stuff, probably the best bang for the buck!

Sound deadener is worth doing. If your going to the trouble of putting in a decent system like the one your describing then the least I would recommend is a door kit and a speaker kit for the sail panels.
For the door kit (covers both doors) and the speaker kit (covers both sail panel speakers) with Dynamat Extreme: $77.00 shipped
The door kit is 4 11.5" x 32" sheets so you have enough to do inside the door also.

Yes it will, especially when placed in specific areas. When you do a door the door just feels more solid when you close it and sound quality improves from your speakers. The hatch area and hatch itself can benefit from as well. Trans tunnel eliminates alot of road noise as does the floor boards. Dynamat even makes a license plate kit...lol! If you have alot to cover then I'd recommend a bulk pack. This has 9 18" x 32" pieces that you can cut to fit in various locations. If your doing more specific areas, door kits, speakers kits, and hatch/trunk kits are available.

If you're spending 1g on your stereo system don't go cheap and not install dynamat stuff(or similar) makes a big improvement. Just remember the rattles, you still have to find them.

With the cut-out open and windows up, sounds like cut-out closed going through the muffler with the windows down. Got rid of all the squeeks and rattles. To me, it made the car feel more solid on the inside.

I've done my sail panel areas when I installed a set of new speakers. I haven't gotten to the doors or any other place but I've noticed a difference just in the sail panel area. I can't wait to do the doors next. I'm using Second Skin on the car
