Default Door lock interior switches

Hello All
Both switches on my 02 Z are clicking only when pressed to unlock? Or lock? The levers will not move when either button is pressed. I searched for a thread on this but couldn't find anything. Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck

I had odd behavior with my door lock switches as follows; Drivers side switch would lock both doors but NOT unlock the doors. The remote works, though the 2x button is sporadic on unlocking both doors (passenger seems to be an issue). My 2002 CETA has only 44k miles and was sitting up for years between owner 1 and 2. Owner 3 put most of the miles on the car and took it into shops semi-frequently until 4 years ago and I am finding issues due to the car having sat around. Yesterday, after ordering new PDL switches for both doors, the driver's side switch started to both lock and unlock both doors! I haven't pulled any covers off, changed anything within the electrical system or done anything different other then get new window tint applied at the first of the month. It doesn't work every time but it is getting better. I heard that is one of the switches starts to go it can impact the other so you might want to test the switches out electrically to make sure they are good. I would test the rest of the switches as well while you're at it so you only have to take things apart once.

Where is the clicking coming from? Inside the doors or under the passenger side dash? (Look for this with the doors open and see if you are getting a noise on the driver's side first to isolate the areas.)

Now "all of a sudden" they both operate fine. I think heat may be a factor in their functionality.

I wonder if heat caused mine to start working again? I had no unlock function, just lock before. Took the car in for new ceramic window tinting and let it back in the Texas sun for 5 days of 100+ degree heat and now they lock and unlock without issue and consistently. Maybe the heat caused expansion of the wires or posts on the switches themselves? Hope it still works when the temps get below 90.

Get a can of CRC Electronic cleaner and spray the door lock and window buttons. You might have some build up on the electronic contacts. At this point it's just good maintenance due to age.

That is probably the Body Control Module (BCM) but it depends on what isn't working.

Right. The solder joints are probably bad (cracked) on the BCM. The clicking are the relays on that unit, but the signals aren't getting out to the devices it controls.

Heat, vibrations, and other things can cause these joints to loose and regain contact. This thread describes the fix, but the pictures have been lost. https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...blems-fix.html

The solution is to access the circuit board in the BCM and re-solder the cracked joints where the terminal contacts attach to the board.

Clicking from the BCM doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem - the internal relays will click when energized even when everything is working properly. That's why I asked what isn't working. This particular thread is about door locks but the common solder issue is related to the RAP circuit providing power to the radio and windows and the fix is different.
