Topic says it all..I'd also prefer something fairly small. I don't really want to load the car down with to much stereo weight..

1/2 farad should be enough, but 1 farad caps are so cheap these days that it wouldn't hurt to have the extra headroom. Knukonceptz.com makes the cheapest I've seen, that will probably be the one that I'll get. I bought their amp install kit.. very high quality and a bargain as well ($30 vs. $70 for a Monster Cable 4ga kit at HiFi).

No offense to anyone else, but Id would stay away from lightning caps. There is a company that makes bat caps, there awsome. Hell they can crank a 4 cylinder car by them selves. I currently have one in my car now, I highly recomend them.

Compare the price of these caps to the price of say a deep cycle optima battery? The prices are very close.Caps help very little and for the same price you can add a second battery that's the way to go!Look at the way the optima is put together. See those SIX oversized AA battery looking things there is your cap Times SIX.

Where do you think that cap gets its juice from? thin air? It has no idea if the car is idling or not and will always draw more current to refill itself of voltage. It is more of a liability than a solution. to better slow the hit on your voltmeter at idle a second battery is the only consideration

An optima battery is the way to go,but it will not take the hit's from the subs going. The absolute best thing is a Cap.If your idling and the stereo is cranked so the voltage is all over the place, then your risking the other electronics ie:computer.
