Default JL Audio FINALLY!!

So it took about a year or so since I started to upgrade the system to finish. Finally put in the subwoofers I was missing (W3's) yay yayyyy!!!! I have a nice lil setup...atleast I think so. I spent about $2,500 give or take a couple hundred...I know I know I probably could have spent 1,500 less but i'm in it for the quality. Thanks to the guys over at Audiosound in Arlington I'm pleased with what i've got. I'll post up pics later....and let me know what ya think.

this better be some system for that kind of money....... did you shop around? do the work yourself? what brought that price up so steep? I'm hoping part of it has to do with video/etc and not ALL sound...

If I were you and just finished what seems like a major upgrade, I would at least list some things in the post...tell us more!

$2500 on parts plus the install is not bad at all. Some folks spend that just on amps.

We do need pics, though.

JL audio is the ****! I used to have two 10" W0s in my old camaro with an Alpine V-power Amp. they sounded so clean. I think JL are among the cleanest sounding subs for how loud they can be.
MY basic list of SUBS:

JL: very clean, loud
Rockford Fosgate: clean, maybe a lil louder
Kicker: not quite as clean, very loud
Audiobahn: just very loud
Sony Xplod: crap

kicker not quite as clean? have you ever listened to 2 L712''s sealed each getting 600rms with SS components..find somthin better sounding.

this is just my honest opinion, JL = Overpriced

you get what you pay for especially on subs/speakers, no doubt jl audio is cream of the crop when it comes car audio i have two 12" fosgate subs in my garage hit hard, but always wanted THE jl audio w7 sub w/ 1000x1 amp

it's all in the install and tuning. I know people who can make an L7 sound better then most folks can a JL w7.

and I'm no kicker fan-boy either.

There's better subs than the W7 out there. Better amps, too. Anyway, I don't believe that "you get what you pay for". Never have. Different products excell in different areas. Like the F-body, corvette, viper, porche, ferrari, etc... Just because the price goes up doesn't mean it's faster. We don't need $10,000 amps to have a good one. There's just so many other factors to consider.

Example, the W7 insn't very efficient. You NEED a lot of power just to get it to perform while other amps need less power for the same output or get even louder than the W7 with the same power.

true the are a lot of old school amps that are a lot better and durable than some of the newer $$$ ones like the old fosgate amps...wow! better subs than w7...depends from person to person, but for clarity/loudness in one sub not many can beat the w7.(personal opinion) i sat in a explorer with 2 12" w7 w/ 2 1000x1 amps omg! i felt like i got punched in the chest when that first bass hit.

If you think they sound good on that class D amp, you should hear them on a class A/B amp of the same power. It's even more intense.

I assumed he installed - that sounds about right then.....especially if it was properly tuned/etc as well.

ofcourse there are, the JBL GTi for example. .

I just used the W7 as an example since many consumers consider it the mac-daddy of subwoofers.

He mentioned the "guys over at Audiosound in Arlington" so I assumed they did the install. Hey, I don't know for sure.

damn, I spent $400 on mine. ONE JL 12" W3, ONE R.F. 325..somethin or other. One band pass box in my ttop area. Makes me uncomfortable when it's up. I imagine for 2500 yours would put me in a coma.

yea I saw that...but he also said he'd been piecing it together for about a year... He also said thanks to them, he's pleased with what he's got....usually I think I'd mention something about them doing an awesome job with the install, etc.. Those 2 things led me to believe at first that he'd been going in and out over a year when he had money, would talk to them and get advice, bring stuff home...install it, etc. and was thankful for them giving advice/and or supplying the components he purchased!

lol......interesting how such a simple sentence can be interpreted in two opposite ways -- you're probably right though
