What kinda speakers are you putting into your F Bodies?
Do you utilize all 8 speakers?
I am a metal head and want something that'll recover fast and give great crystal clear sound. I don't require any woofers but something that'll give me solid lows.
Any suggestions

I have all Memphis audio speakers to replace my stockers. They are all powered by a Memphis 400w amp. I have 2 subs both are JL Audio 10w3v2 enclosed in 2 separate q-logic boxes. They are powered by a 1ohm (not sure actual wattage) power acoustic amp. Let me just say, I listen to Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Dream Theater, Metallica, Symphony X all the great stuff and it's the most amazing out of any of my friends cars. My friend with a mustang listens to reallllllly heavy stuff like ultra vomit, and it's seriously **** in his car, and amazingly clear in mine. I couldn't tell you how much any of this stuff costs because it all came with the car when I got it. The system uses all the stock speaker locations +2 custom tweeter pods made for the little triangle spot where the mirrors are.
i know you said you don't need subs or anything, but metal is 100X better with them. Once you get them, it's hard to go back to not having them.

Just mainly want an awesome sound... I want to spend around $600 for speakers. Is that a solid budget for speakers?
I am gonna buy an amp as well... just later on.
I have an Eclipse Head Unit right now... 8454 if I remember correctly (Which I probably don't). Or it might be the 8445.

$600 is a nice budget for speakers. The SLC265s are actually about $220ish for a set. Put the SLC265s up front, maybe the SLC 165s ($115ish) or the SL 165s (coax version, $150ish) in the sails, and you will be good to go. When you put an amp to them, I promise you will be very happy

Amp choice is flexible, depending on how much you want to spend of course.

That is a link to their Sound Line. The higher up the list you go, the more expensive they get... up toward the $10,000 range!

CDT!!!! Accept no substitutions!! LOL!! I listen to 99% metal and if you haven't heard metal with subs....where have you been???!! The last concert you went to didn't have just mids and highs did it?? When the kick drum hit you felt in in your chest right?? Same principal!! It depends on your selection of equipment. Obviously you want quality components with a nice silk dome tweeter 3/4" to 1" and a good crossover all on an amplifier preferably. For metal I recommend one 10" or 12" sub with a good amp. In an F-body a 10" sub in a stealth enclosure is perfect for your application. I personally run 2 10" subs but it really isn't neccessary. I just like to mess with the dudes in the box chevy's with the 15"-18" cheap *** subs and the "1000watt" Pyramid amp. When I tell them I only have a total of 600 watts for all my speakers they can't beleive it!!

I listen to lots of metal music, a 10 inch JL sub is perfect for a clean sound without being overbearing with the bass. i didnt think it would be a good idea at first, but i followed a friend's advice and was pleasantly surprised

CDT speakers are nice, but I don't like their tweeters. Too bright for me. Nice midbass though. The SLC 265 Kicks are great for rock though. They have a stiffer suspension that gives greater output in the 80hz range, which makes rock drums sound amazing.

So you're saying for $370 I can have an awesome set of speakers for my car?
How much would you say for a nice amp to compliment those speakers? Knowing myself... I would probably get the next best speakers in line. haha Any suggestions?

I have a confession to make!! I..I didn't like the CDT tweets either...GASP!!! LOL!! I use some Boston Acoustics I had from a previous set of comps I had. They are still silk dome which tends to help with harshness and I still utilized the CDT crossovers. The CDT midbass are awesome though!! Bar none for the price!! I also recently got some EF-8 carbon fiber subs in. I am debating what to do with them. They have cast baskets with CF cone and dust cover. Really nice!!

The prices I gave you are estimates, depending on who you buy through. It should be in that range, though.
The thing people don't realize with the Rainbow Sound Line is that yes, they are expensive, and other speakers "sound good for the money." But, Rainbows are also a "sound good for the money" type of speaker. They have beaten out speakers that are over $1000 in competitions. They are just that good. There are always "boner" speakers that come out and everybody likes them because they are new, but after a while a new speaker comes out and replaces them... Rainbows are not that way. They have been a proven top of the line speaker GLOBALLY for years now. People have won nationally organized sound quality competitions with the SCL265s. They're amazing speakers.
There, I'm off my soap box now LOL.
If you give me a price range for an amp, I can suggest some for you. An amp can cost you anywhere from $200 (nice and used) up to $600+.

Well if the speakers you are talking about are in that price range... then $300 maybe? Is that good enough for a decent amp?
I'm gonna get a real price setup on Rainbow Material tomorrow... just want to go in there with a good ball park figure on what I need. One 10" Sub would be sweet... but the extra cash involved is pretty drastic. The wire, sub, box, and amp. That's probably another $600 no?

The SLC 265s that I recommended up front are a component set. They come with a 6.5" mid, a tweeter, and a crossover. The SL 165 coaxs in the back also ahve a tweeter, but it is all one unit. The SLC 165s do not have a tweeter. I kind of like not having a tweeter in the back though, it move the sound stage forward a little bit and balances things out to my ears. Your ears might be totally different though
![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
I PM'd a guy over at CAF who is a Rainbow dealer earlier for you to get prices. Once he gets back to me, I'll let you know. He offers the speakers cheaper through the forum than he does on the website, which is why I add "ish" to all of the prices lol.
As for the sub, powering it can be MUCH cheaper. A high quality amp isn't honestly needed for subs in my opinion. As long as it puts out power and doesn't clip, its fine for a basic setup. Some people think differently, but other people would agree with me. A 10" setup in the back can be done as cheap as $400 if you can make your own box (it is not hard at all). That is with all brand new equipment, too. If you have to buy the box, you can do it for like $475.
Sub = ~100
Amp = ~200
All wiring = ~50
Box = ~30 if you make it, $129 if you buy it.
If you do go with the sub, then I recommend getting the "Kick" version of the Rainbows. They put out like 1.5 times the kick bass (according to Rainbow), which you can really feel with rock. Those aboslutely HAVE to be used with an 80Hz/12db crossover though. The non-kick version can be crossed a little lower and will be a little better if you don't want a sub.

I just want an awesome system... I want to be loud as freakin all hell without any distorted or crappy sound. I know Rainbows make a great product... Just want to be sure that when I blast it I don't hear any cracking or anything. I think i'm gonna go sub... cuz I did have a sub in my Escort and it didn't sound too bad... just wasn't sure what other people with real systems were doing.
I don't really want really hard hitting crazy bass. Just a real accenting low that helps the other speakers out. I'm not into the rumbling peoples dentures and ****.

Ok this is what you're looking at:
SLC 265 - 225 shipped.
SLC 265 Kick - 280 shipped.
Those go up front, in the doors.
For the speakers that go directly next to the rear seats, in those panels back there, the SL165 coaxs are 150 shipped. So you're looking at $375 for a pretty damn nice setup.
If you want great lows out of a 10, I'd go with an IDQ. They're known for playing low and they are amazing SQ speakers. SQ means Sound Quality, which is what you want with that fast rock you like
Like on And Justice For All when Lars gets the bass beating so fast, you need a good speaker to keep up hehe.
If you do decide to go with a sub, you can save yourself the trouble and just pick up a 5 channel amp so you don't have to wire 2 seperate amps. 5 channel amps can be more expensive than buying 2 seperate amps sometimes, but they're a little easier to hook up and look cleaner with having a single amp back there. Elemental Designs just came out with a new 5 channel amp they're selling for $450 I think. You can see it here:
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...roducts_id=550
That would actually work perfectly for you. If you are going to do this setup sooner, though, we'll have to find another amp because that one says it won't ship until about June. This is like a pre-order I believe. There are other good amps out there though, I will look around at prices.
