Hp gain with stock ls6 heads
how would you think a 02 ws6 a4 with full bolt ons and stock cam would gain with a set of stock ls6 heads and would it be worth it to have them milled to increase compression?

Im about to put in a vrx4 cam and Im going to get some ls6 heads and have them milled 20 thousandths and prolly a lil bowl work. Im hoping to be at like 420rwhp or so. Your car should put down some pretty good numbers

I would think it would be more than that. I know they flow better but wouldn't the 243s in stock form bump the compression a good bit too?

I'm not so sure milling 243's to 61cc,
Is a good idea with a stock cam. Static CR is going from 10.1 up to 10.5 with just the act of changing from 241 to 243.
61cc would put SCR over 11:1 and start the possibility of getting detonation everywhere.
Talk to a sponsor tuning shop for this type of Q.

If you have a set it's not a bad move. Out of the box I'd expect you to see 15hp gains. It's just hard to justify all that labor & $500 for used LS6 heads to make 15hp. We sell the PRC CNC Ported LS6 Stage 1 heads for right at $1000 & they typically gain 40rwhp+ over a stock LS1 cylinder head.
Don't forget the PRC heads are also brand new castings that ship with a performance guarantee!

We typically see 40-50rwhp from a LS6 cnc ported PRC head install. I'll engine dyno the stock LS6 heads on a stock engine for you guys as soon as I get the new dyno cell up & running.

It would be worth it. If your budget only allows for milling them to increase compression do it. You'll still see 20 rwhp switching from your 241's to 243's. And then later on when money or time allows you could have them fully cnc'd and gain another 20rwhp. Good investment IMO.

I had 2002-2003 stage II MTI LS6 heads milled 0.020 and a C1 cam and it made 415 rwhp. It is a 6 spd too.
I now have the same heads milled slighty more, fast intake, LG 5X-3 (can't remember if the 5x is right) and had an electric water and it made around 440 rwhp.
