Coming Soon: LS Fest West Hits Las Vegas

The popular LS Fest comes West and it’s going to be huge.

If you are a fan of the LS you know all about LS Fest. The three day celebration of all things LS and GM-powered. You also know it normally takes part in Beach Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, but for 2017 LS Fest goes West to Las Vegas and Las Vegas motor speedway. That’s right, West Coast fans, LS Fest is coming to you and Las Vegas. However, it wouldn’t be a Vegas event without going big and LS Fest West is bringing out all the stops for its inaugural event.

You know about the typical events that happen at LS Fest, but just in case, here is a quick rundown. The big draw is of course the drag racing. It’s a run down the quarter-mile from test and tune runs to classes such as the Cam Motion True Street, the Three Pedal Rumble, Sam Tech Street King, and Vortech Late Model Heads Up. The Earl’s LS Truck, NOS Outlaw True Street, and MSD LS Outlaw 275 classes will be eighth-mile only.

Then there is the ever popular autocross, where daily drivers and trailered racer specials can come out and race against each other for the fastest times of the day. There will also be the Chevy High Noon Shootout, which will offer two individual events throughout the weekend, including an autocross challenge at noon on Friday, and Chevy High Performance Best of Show at noon on Sunday for the Show-N-Shine.

It’s more of a young people’s sport, but there will be drifting at LS Fest West, too. Drivers will showcase their talent getting their vehicles sideways and compete for a $1,500 purse and gift certificates. This event consists of skilled drivers and their vehicles competing in tandem competition around a predetermined course to decide a winner. Drivers are evaluated by a panel of three judges that decide who advances to the next round based on three criteria: line, angle, and overall style.

It wouldn’t be a west coast event without some dirt involved and LS Fest West is giving you off road action in two different ways. The first will be the Off-Road Challenge, trucks as well as buggies will compete side-by-side on identical short courses in a race down and back with various obstacles. The track will be set up by none other than the crew at Ultra 4 Racing and each truck will be required to make qualifying runs on both of the identical courses. Then, eliminations will take place the only goal is to beat the truck beside you back across the line.

Then there is the Dirt Alliance Tour Desert Launch, here the Dirt Alliance Dirt Tour is bringing 8-10 long travel pre-runner style trucks to LS Fest West and a large jump will be constructed within the same dirt track that will contain the Off Road Challenge. There will be several opportunities to see these trucks hit the ramp and send it right in front of the stands. Think of it as the LS Fest West version of the Huckfest.

Of course there will be more like the Poker Run, Car Show, Dyno, Road Course, and so much more. If you wanted the biggest LS Fest, the West is giving it to you at Las Vegas Motorspeedway May 6 to May 8. Are you ready?
