700hp Corvette

Corvette packs a ProCharged LS6, suspension upgrades, C6Z brakes and a cage while looking great for its age.

If you have been dreaming of building a C5 Corvette that you can drive every day while also stopping in at your local drag strip or road course track for a day of high performance fun, nickolbag might have the perfect Chevy sports car for you. This black C5 was posted to the LS1Tech Marketplace with a price of $22,000 or best offer, and as you can see from the short mod list, this LS-powered performance machine was built to shine in just about any racing setting while still being comfortable enough to drive on the street.

ProCharged Corvette Introduction

When the OP first posted his 1999 Corvette for sale, he didn’t provide a world of information, but he ran through all of the key components of his build.

C5 Front

“Forged LS6, F1A Procharger, custom fuel system, meth injection, RXT Twin,TR6060 trans, C6Z rear. Coilovers and C6Z brakes. 10 point cage custom stereo.

The car is solid mechanically. Cosmetically it looks like a 20 year old car. 80k on the odometer. 7k miles on the motor supercharger build. 3k miles in the drivetrain.

The bad, the paint is original. ABS/TCS inoperative. And a couple interior pieces need to be fitted around the cage.”

Corvette Interior

The seller also included all of the images here and honestly, it doesn’t look bad in the pictures. Black paint shows every little mark and while we only have a couple exterior pictures, it looks pretty sharp. If nothing else, it looks good enough to enjoy driving every day or on weekends at your local track.

Finish the Build Yourself

The listing for this Corvette points out that the interior is not completely finished since the roll cage was added while both the antilock braking system and traction control system aren’t working. Neither of those nannies are needed for a day at the track of your choosing and with proper driving skill, you don’t really need them on the street, either.

Blown LS6

The key point here is that the engine is built to make big power, so whether you want to road race or drag race, the first step to being very fast is completed. The McLeod RXT twin disc clutch and Tremec TR6060 transmission are idea for the road course, but a skilled driver will have just as much fun on the drag strip while banging through gears. The coilovers and C6Z brakes make for a better road racer, but a devout drag racer can swap to proper dampers if needed.

Corvette Cage

The bottom line is that if you want a C5 Corvette that is great on the road or any track, this 1999 Chevy sports car might be your dream ride.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
