Hennessey Exorcist Camaro ZL1 Final Edition Debuts as 1,000 HP Demon 170 Killer
The Hennessey Exorcist Camaro ZL1 Final Edition opts to send the beloved model out with a bang, unlike GM’s rather mild Collector’s Edition.
Hennessy Performance has been offering what it calls the “Exorcist” package for the Chevy Camaro ZL1 for years now, an enticing, 1,000 horsepower tire-slayer that unleashes that track-focused model’s raw potential. However, with news that the sixth-generation Camaro is set to bow out after the 2024 model year, well, that means that Exorcist won’t be around much longer either – though customers will still be able to get their existing cars modified in that manner. Thus, the Texas-based tuner has decided to send the model out with a bang – one far louder than the rather mundane Collector’s Edition – with the new Hennessey Exorcist Camaro ZL1 Final Edition.
The Hennessey Camaro ZL1 Final Edition is pretty much guaranteed to be a sought-after collectible, given the fact that the tuner plans to build just 57 of them – one for each year since the Camaro first entered production. As is the case with the regular Exorcist, the Final Edition receives some notable powertrain updates for its supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8, including a larger high-flow supercharger, high-flow air induction system, and an upgraded auxiliary fuel system, fuel injectors, and fuel pump.
From there, Hennessey ports the heads and adds a custom HPE cam, along with upgraded intake valves, exhaust valves, valve springs, retainers, lifters, and pushrods, an oversized heat exchanger, long-tube stainless steel headers, high-flow catalytic converters, and the HPE Engine Management software upgrade. Altogether, these goodies result in an output of 1,000 horsepower and 966 pound-feet of torque, a big boost over the factory ratings of 650/650.
According to Hennessey, that’s good enough to propel the Exorcist Final Edition from 0-60 in just 2.1 seconds, down the quarter-mile in 9.57 seconds, and up to a top speed of 217 mph – making it a formidable foe for the Dodge Demon 170. Otherwise, this special Camaro looks unique as well, thanks to Final Edition graphics on the outside, as well as a serial-numbered engine bay plaque. While GM opted to go a bit mild when sending off its beloved sports car, the Exorcist prefers to go out a bit louder, and to us at least, that’s the way it should be.
