LS-swapped Imports Drift Through Industrial Wasteland
You know what fixes an import car? Easy answer: a domestic horsepower injection. Donut Media, creators of amazing drift content, has released a new film straight out of the former Soviet block. Yes, the tire smoking boys are in Latvia, sliding some interesting machines around some even more interesting machinery.
What we have are two supercharged LS-powered BMW’s, one an E46 M3 body and the other a wildly fender flared E92 M3. Just for reference, the latter of which is making 950 horsepower. They are joined by a twin-turbocharged LS-swapped Nissan 350Z. All of which are sporting rough and tumble exteriors befitting cars that spend most of their time sideways, slaying tires and tapping walls or other cars, for fun. How do the people of LS1Tech like these swapped oddities? LS swaps are popular for a reason, and after hearing these cars rip, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise as to why.
Anyway, back to Latvia: the Donuteers, Ryan Tuerck, Mat Powers and local boy Kristaps Bluss, are in the former Soviet block, sliding through a former Soviet missile base, which is seemingly littered with remnants of it’s Soviet past.
The abandoned, industrial back drop is a perfect playground for these massively powerful slide machines. The video is highly stylized and features an excellent juxtaposition between interior and exterior angles. Speaking of angle, check out the amount of angle these cars are getting through some rather sketchy areas. Having done some drifting myself, I’m really digging the mid-drift 360* and smokey tandem drifts through the narrow wooded passes.
Watching this video further reinforces the idea that I need to LS swap my drift car. How about a mini series detailing that spectacle? If the response from the community is there, we might be able to pitch the idea to the powers that be…
