Remember the Dude Who Swapped an LS Engine Into His Ferrari?

Back in 2011, it was brought to our attention that some crazy gear head in California had decided to take one of his supercars, a Ferrari 360 GT, and swap out its engine for an LS.

GM enthusiasts thought it was bloody brilliant, Italian supercar purists thought it was one of the dumbest things an owner could do, and others just thought none of it made any sense whatsoever. But one thing held true: people were interested and had an opinion, one way or the other.

Now before you blow a gasket, let’s take a closer look at why the owner did this and what else he has in his collection. According to the owner’s friend and photographer Jason Thorgalsen, the collector has a garage full of exotics, all of which are race-oriented.

Not only did he have a RUF and Carrera GT, he had a couple of Paganis, and a Lotus Exige. And then there are the Ferraris. He had four 360s, one a Challenge Stradale, another a Challenge, and the other two GTs.

So why swap one with American muscle? Well, the 430-horsepower V8 engine reportedly blew on track. So, with another pure 360 GT already on deck, he decided to have some fun with the busted one and threw a Lingenfelter Performance 7.0-liter, 427 cubic-inch Corvette Z06 motor into it. Supercharged and tuned, it produced a massive 1,000 horses.

What do you think of the Italian American?
