Z06 For Sale Is one of the Most Important ‘Vettes You’ll Ever See

Blue Devil Z06 Corvette prototype car for sale

First C6 Z06 ever built is lovingly named ‘Blue Devil,’ and has been on racetracks worldwide, including the Nurburgring.

Everyone so often a car comes up for sale that absolutely blows our minds. Sometimes things you’ll likely never have a chance to buy again come up, and this is absolutely one of those times.

GT Motor Cars, a specialty collector car dealer in Wallingford, Connecticut, is selling this living Corvette Museum artifact. This is the very first C6 Z06 built in the iconic Bowling Green, Kentucky factory. It’s been all over the world, and now it’s ready to come home with you.

Having the first C6 Z06 would be quite a showpiece, indeed. However, it goes a fair bit deeper than that. This is not just the first one, though. Indeed, this is not even a production model. It is an experimental model. A prototype of sorts built to push to the limits for testing, and dazzle the press.

In its treks, it spent time on legendary race tracks such as Circuit De Spa-Francorchamps, Virginia International Raceway (VIR), and the gauntlet that is Germany’s Nurburgring Nordschleife. It even did a top speed run on the German Autobahn, where it managed a top speed of over 200 mph. Additionally, it went for a top speed test in Papenburg, Germany, as well. Its average speed in both directions was 198.8 mph.

Its best lap at the Nurburgring is 7:42.99 with driver Jan Magnussen behind the wheel. Magnussen is a professional racing driver hailing from Denmark, and managed this time from a standing start at the ring.

It’s time a Circuit de Spa was spent as a pre-screen for a Z06 press show. Finally, more driving and testing at the hands of driver Johnny O’Connell at VIR. This car truly has seen more of the world than a lot of people.

Of course, this Z06 comes with all the standard trimmings — the dry-sump LS7 cranking out 505 horsepower, for one. Also, the iconic widened fenders and channels built into them for brake cooling. If you are already in the market for a Z06, this might be worth looking into. Though, be sure to have bottomless pockets. The GT Motor Cars website lists that you must call for the price, and you know what they say about having to ask.

There is one downside, though. Since this is an experimental pre-production car, it is sold on a bill of sale. No title work exists from what we can tell, and it is not for use on public roadways. However, we don’t imagine the next owner will be doing much driving with this car anyway. It’s not often we route for a rare vehicle to sit undriven, but this really is a museum ready piece of Corvette history.
