Shoot me a PM and we can work out details on getting it back to us. I'll get you a new gallon sent out because that is definitely far from the norm.
That is good customer service. I got a bottle as part of the mystery box and have only used it s detail spray and not cly lubricant. I can honestly say that Adam's leave a slicker surface than meguiar's ultimate detail spray. Meguiar's always has a great smell to their product but Adam's smells just as great. I do always shake the bottle before use.

I would try opti-coat 2.0 myself if I had bare polished wheels. That stuff is no joke. I personally have only applied it to painted surfaces and plastic, but Optimum does list metal/aluminum as being coat able and a quick search before I brought it up shows others have coated polished bare wheels with success. After polishing just make damn sure they are thoroughly clean before coating. Getting all the polish residue off before coating is gonna be the most important step. I like Flitz Aluminum pre-clean for bare aluminum, it works great without changing the appearance of the finish.

I have had different results with the Flitz pre clean. I've done two sets of ZR1 wheels and it left the finish less than desirable. I think polishing the wheels to a mirror finish and then applying the pre clean would be counter productive. I'm just passing along my experience not trying to start an argument.

I think washing with Dawn, some APC and car shampoo would be a good idea then do an IPA wipe down or something like Eraser.

Has anyone used Zoopseal? I think that's what it's called. I saw it on Trucks! a long time ago and it looked interesting but I've never used it.

Rare,

Sorry I missed your post. I ordered it from Car Pro's website. I like it much better!

Not taken that way at all. Were the ZR1 wheels chrome or actually bare un-coated polished aluminum ?I used to use the Flitz pre-clean on my old weld prostars and didnt get any clouding or hazing. Im not sure how it would act on chrome. Your method is probably the least harsh I would assume though. I couldn't recommend APC or IPA on bare polished because I have not used either on bare aluminum wheels. The only un-coated wheels Ive ever dealt with were the prostars.

Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully I wont have to do too much polishing on them to get them close to perfect before putting on some sort of sealant.

No worries Jason. I'm just waiting to finish up my 5L of Wolf's Decon and I'll probably order up some new IX. I've intergrated an iron removing step into every package I offer, and I must say, it makes claying an absolute breeze. Less clay/decon towel use = time saved and more money in my pocket!

Just be patient. These clear coats are pretty hard, it'll require some TLC to get it where you'll want it. Just be patient, and research. The right products & tools combined with the knowledge and research should give you amazing results.

I want to give a big thanks to Nick@Adams. He shipped me a new gallon of detail spray on their dime. He didn't just ship it regular Fed Ex he sent it two day priority. I was very pleased when I came home from work this evening to find it on my door step.

I am happy to report this new gallon is awesome. The first thing I noticed is the smell. It has the same scent but much stronger. My wife got home and when she walked in the garage the first words out where how much stronger the smell was. I clayed with it and its super slick, no more grabby clay bar. I guess the first gallon was no good.

I want to give props again to Nick being a stand up guy and taking care of me. Great company to do business with.

Glad to help!

Not sure what to make of the weird gallon you got. Could have seen some temperature extremes during shipping, but all that usually does it mess with the coloring and doesn't typically affect performance, especially so specific as just reducing the slickness.

At any rate, glad you're back in business now!

Looking to replace my PC, I am leaning towards the rupes over flex. I really want something that is smooth(doesnt vibrate so much), quiet. Any one have experience with both?

The griots DA is getting great reviews on the detailing forums. It has more power than a PC. You may want to consider it as well. I have read good things about the flex and rupes.

Rupes is freaking awesome, it's very smooth. What I'd do is buy a 3" or 4" backing plate setup for Ur PC for those tighter spaces that the rupes can't fit in well.

Agreed. IMO the Rupes is the only thing to upgrade to from a PC, Groits, Megs. It's unbelievable how much power the Rupes has.

Anyone have suggestions for restoring black trim and plastics on the exterior? My Firehawk plastics aren't looking so great but my truck looks even worse. Is there anything that will work or do I have to replace/paint it all?

Anything you rub on is going to have or have to be reapplied to keep it looking black. I have a 2002 avalanche which has the light grey plastic cladding all around. I cleaned, prepped, and painted it with Krylon Fusion for plastics. Has lasted 2 years+ through washes and driving and still looks good. Many people with Avalanches I know have gone this way and looks great. Prep is key

GTechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer is amazing. Buddy used it on his GTI, been year and half and still black, no fading at all!

I've tried to read the entire thread, but it's 102 pages and I have a simple question:

What would you recommend to a "beginner serious" detailer in terms of a basic kit to get one started?

I'd like to pick up the Porter Cable unit, but have really no clue where to go from there.. I don't mind spending a little money, but I want to spend it right.

Thanks!
