I think there are at least 2 pieces of metal that meet in the lip area. You would need to cut both for clearance and then weld in a new piece to connect them back together. Does this make sense? I think that's how other widebody kits are done.

These cars cannot be lowered anymore or the rear tires would hit into the origional and additional fender lips. Basically if you look under the rear fender of a non-modified F-Body the lip is about 1" wide or so. The Dick Harrell cars have a 3" rear lip or so as the wide fenders attach onto the origional fender lips. Make Sense?

Is the origional GM #6 Sunoco car the same as the 2003 Heritage Camaro?
Cammin BeaSSt, your rear tires look like the original metal has been removed. If not, how did you fit those giant tires? Do you have any pics of that area on your car?
This is a bit disappointing. In my "if I ever got rich" bag, I always thought about widenning the rear fenders on my TA. Right beside my "mid-engine relocation" idea. Yea, now that would be awesome.

I know on Matt Bergers candy green DH car it's NOT lowered in the rear and there are no mods done to the stock sheet metal. He said he didn't want to hack the fenders up trying to lower it and fit those huge tires in there. I'm pretty sure they're running Penske shocks like the ZL1 cars did so it's a stiffer ride and probably less chance of bottoming out. I think the look of the DH rear fenders makes it look lower than it really is.

So you think the aftermarket fender lips are made lower? That would make sense, but you would still have very little suspension travel. I can tuck one of my 315's up until the rim is level with the lip!
I'm going to guess they modded the bumpstops to reduce the suspension travel and that the cars ride very stiff in the rear.

No, no, it would be easier to just flare out the rear fender yourself than use a camaro kit. If your not going to cut the fender then you could probably just use bondo to pull it out and shape it. The bumper cover can be flexed to match up. That's by far the easiest way to do it, but it's cosmetic only. I'd want to really flare it out so I can push the tires out and get a fatter lipped rim. As it stands it doesn't look possible.
Check out construction photos of other cars with wide body kits. I'm sure you'll get good ideas.

I would also definitely buy one of these kits when/if you make them. The DH car is just bad *** and that would be a great look. Plus it would be a great exuse to paint my car a deeper, darker red with some black stripes. The rear spoiler would probably look alright if it was just toned down some. How would this body look with, say, and UltraZ hood? I'm not a big fan of cowl induction hoods on the last two generation F-bodies.

You're not going to find a lot of that info unless the owners themselves chime in. Berger has like no info on their site and starting price was $85K and went up depending on options. GMMG's site doesnt' say anything really either on them.

If you asked me what I think about the DH cars, I feel that they will take a few years to die off, but once they do, people will see that most of that is just more 'flare' than 'fast'. For example;
