Default 3200 or 4000 stall for drag

i am currently running a 1999 camaro with a 230/230 cam, moser m9 with 3.80 gears, full bolt-ons, 15in slicks and a 3200 stall.
i am building a stout 4l60e for my car and will shortly install a 100 to 125 shot. i am thinking a bigger stall will help me alot, i dont care much a bout street manors. how much of a gain will i see by going to a 4000 stall? or what do you think i should put in it?

That cam wants a higher stall speed but you have to
worry about nitrous pushing through it. I think the
question for this setup is, -which- 4000 converter.
Presuming you don't care too much about low-pedal
street driving.

i have a edge racing converter with billit and balooned internals, i was just going to send it back to him and have it rebuilt. i love the way the edge feels i just think it needs a few more RPMs to really launch.

Yank SS4000 seems to be the converter of choice for n/a as well as nitrous. I'm in the same boat as you are. I have a h/c LT1 w/about the same size cam you're running and a 3600 converter. I'm thinking of upgrading it to a Yank myself.

4000 will work great on that set-up. I have one on a LS1 street turbo car and it locks in overdrive. Even on 1-2-3 shifts, I never have to pass 2.5K RPM, I'd just be speeding through traffic if I gas it any more.

I would suggest our "+4C" that is rated at 4000-4200. You will be amazed at the 60's and MPH. Another option is our famous "5C" it is a few hundred RPM higher, but will really make your car shine. I have numerous guys driving both on the street with no problems. Give me a shout if you have any other questions. PM or Call.

I can tell you with the cam in my sig and the 4000rpm stall FTI built for me, it's a really good match. Nice street driving quickly followed by hold the heck on when you step into it.

my car is a perfect example of what stepping up to a 230/230 cam and a 4000 stall can do...

stock internal ss3600 best 60ft was 1.54
cam only with ss4000 best 60ft was 1.38

Converters can be built tighter(more hit on low end with less throttle input to get moving but not as much top end), or loose(more throttle input to get it to move but better top end). The good converter companies can build a converter that is tight for daily use, but still efficient up top as well.
