Default 2008 Challenger and pricing!! Let the Wars begin!!

* Should be Starting @ $38k! for the SRT !There taking orders starting Dec. 3, 2007* !!

Here's the links !!

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/11/29/2...art-at-37-995/

http://jalopnik.com/cars/muscle-car-...995-327843.php

Have to say it would be a better commercial if the new challenger beat up on a Mustang GT500 !!

If the SRT is going to start at 38k then what do you all think the 5.7 RT will go for and down the line ? Discussion please.

Well lets see...

1. Its bloated and ugly
2. Its not really a hemi
3. You wont touch one for less than $50k after the dealers get through marking them up

1. It looks cool as hell ( and all the newer cars are getting heavier )
2. The SRT will have plenty of power
3. With limited production the sticker prices may indeed get inflated.

It might look better with two separate tailights lenses instead of one.

3. With limited production the sticker prices may indeed get inflated, which is a common occurrance with all "hot item" makes and models.
4. Unfortunatley, all the people I talk to are getting one of these instead of the later-arriving Camaro

I love the look, but with my pay I won't be getting one. I'll just whoop up on them in my 10K dollar low mileage beast.

That car is surely under powered for the money. The gt500 is only 4k more, but has a good deal more power. Not to mention a ton more on the table with bolt ons. I think they dropped the ball no the car with the 6.1l At least when they do go on sale it will take some pressure off the gt500s, whose ADMs are already going away.

Hopefully the Camaro has Shelby power if they try to get Shelby money for it.

Make sure you go back to all those people you talked to and see how they like getting their asses handed to them by the new Camaros.

I think that challenger looks awesome - instead of bench racing who will win, we will have to wait and see who wins at the track..

I love it...the Challenger has always been a fat ***...so the extra weight does not bother me. I really like this...I think it is over priced...but I will wait till they are used and pick one up. If the camaro had stuck to its light weight heritage I would have gotten one...but it is not a camaro. The new camaro looks like a Camaro...but it is not a Camaro. This thing looks like and is a Challenger!!!

I do not think we have to wait for the cars to know which is faster stock. Just do the math.

The SRT8 cars and Jeep are capable of dipping into the 12s off the showroom floor. Don't underestimate what this car will do considering it's shorter and will weigh less than those do.

When the R/T model bows it should be around the same price as the next Camaro and will feature a revised 5.7L HEMI with more power and a choice of auto and manual transmissions.

This is a good time to be alive.

Meh...for the price the top of the line new Camaro will be I'll just keep my 4th gen or get a used, low mileage Vette. At least then, in either case my car won't be 1 of 2,000 seen on the road on a daily basic, ala Mustang.

Great! But this doesn't really belong in the 2010 Camaro Forum? (moving to Automotive News, Media & Press Forum)...

FYI...

The press release conveniently left out the $2100 Gas guzzler tax!!!

The actual MSRP is $40,095.
http://www.dodge.com/en/2008/challenger

FWIW, Camaro will not be subject to any gas guzzle tax.
