Default Newbie Purchasing CTS-V

Hey all just hoping for some advice on purchasing a CTS-V. I have driven a 2004 model and was so impressed I have to have one. I love the look, speed, HP and just all around beauty of this car. I have checked out some of your cars on this forum and I am very impressed so I joined. My basic questions are
1. Between 2004-2007 what model is the best? I know in 2006 they put the LS6 in instead of the LS2 but does it make a big difference the 5ftlbs of torque? What other differences are there between models? I know after 2004 they have a digital portion into the dash correct?
2. When you go to start the car does it gauge sweep like the Z06?
3. Anything I should look for on the cars ? Problem areas?

Thanks for any help !!

Bobby

You have some of your details mixed up.

Guages do not sweep.

You can't really go wrong with any year!

Here is a camparo between the years. Not all the '07 stuff has been added yet, but there really weren;t any changes between '06 to '07 that I was awre of.

2004 and 2005 = LS6
2006 and 2007 = LS2
Basically no diff in HP and TQ, except one is a truck motor with more cubes...LOL

Why would an older engine design be in a newer vehicle? The 6.0L LS6 is in the new C6 vette the 06-07 CTS V Should have same engine LS6 6.0L V8 400HP not 5.7L LS2.. so I might be a noob here but I think I am right.. I have googled the crap out of this.

I see no major compelling reasons to chose an 6/7 over a 4/5. What is your reasoning?

If you are going to mod, just get it tuned out. If not there is another guy on the other forum selling !CAGS now. Just do a search.

What other forum?

And my reasoning is I just want a newer V with low miles.

StealthV (Rick) is kinda hard to get a hold of in the winter. I think his business is much more busy then. Like Chris said. If you are going to do a tune through Rick, he can tune out the cags. If you have the funds and know what mods you want, Go to ebay buy a extra PCM and have Rick tune the spare. Just a little insite.

Default Don't ignore the '04-'05

I have an '07 and to me - the exhaust note and interior noise (I have a resonance at about 70mph with neutral throttle) - are better on my friends 5.7 LS6. Both stock....I may be crazy, but the 5.7 seems more tuned for the vehicle...

But I do like my radio controls on the steering wheel...

....and also CAGS is not an issue like it was on my '98 firebird - on the Caddy it doesn't activate over 21% throttle (or when it's cold) so it rarely gets me. On the Firebird it was around 35% throttle so it hit MUCH more often.

$22,000 @ 43K miles ... not a bad deal.
