Need Cam Recommendations for Carbed LY6 with L92 Heads
....in 1970 Camaro with t400, 3800 stall, and 12 bolt with 4.11s.
this is for a buddy and not too familiar with carbed combos so seeking advice and recommendations. GOAL is for street strip combo good for low 11s at least and to run in the 10s with NOS. Car is gutted and roll caged.

I think you probably meant to say "rectangle port", but I agree that calling Geoff or Pat G. is probably the best idea.
For what it's worth, my cam is a 231/239 .598/.610 on a 110+1. My combo is very similar to your buddies but my converter goes to 4800 on the brake. Also I didn't mention using nitrous when I had mine spec'd because I didn't want to sacrifice NA performance so that may change what they spec for you as well.

Yes, you did mention that. That is why I indicated that my cam was NOT spec'd with nitrous use in mind. What I was trying to say is that if your buddy is looking to maximize power on the bottle, this cam may not be the absolute best choice. However, if he is like me and wants it to run best on motor and "get what he gets" on the spray......then this cam may be a good starting point. The only other major difference is that his converter is 1000 rpm tighter than mine which would also effect cam selection.
Heads are stock and have never been off the motor. My intake is a Victor Jr and the carb is a Pro Systems 950.

That won't fit without fly-cutting. Exhaust will never clear with adequate clearance and intake will be super tight.
Thanks tigger. For a carb'd combo I'd rather do something with a tigher lobe sep. and a tighter ICL. Only problem with this is to get the intake duration in the profile it would need with the further advanced ICL it needs P to V becomes an issue with the larger 2.16" intake valve.
I'd be more than happy to spec a custom cam for your friend as I think that would be best for his set-up and combination.

I think this would be well worth your while to figure out some designs. It is a really popular thing right now for guys to take junk yard motors, throw on some square port heads and go racing. So a few max effort single plane cams for square port heads without fly cutting would likely be a popular item if the word got out.

This is the other issue, guys want to spray their engines, but the fly cut pistons are now a ticking time bomb. Thanks for the giant intake valve GM!

It's a catch 22 I guess; if you want the bigger heads AND compression...but IF it runs the numbers it should (on paper)...won't need the juice, and should live a long happy life.

I've tossed the idea around around before for sure. It will probably happen sooner than later, there will have to be p to v measurements made to ensure adequate clearance. I like to roll the icl over pretty far advanced on a single plane carb camshaft and with the intake duration IMO that's needed is gets tight quick.

about spraying and flycut pistons being a ticking time bomb, does this apply to even the ly6 pistons that already come with valve reliefs??? looking at a 150 shot only.
