I currently have a truck pump with a 90* tapped in top for coolant crossovers. Really not any good bulk heads to tap a big 3/8" NPT like a Camaro pump would have.

Closest to the head would be optimal. Im not basing my previous statement on data. Just seems like (especially with a turbo motor) that far from the head could possibly provide wrong information. It may work though.

The holes you have already cut would line up with the next cylinder, so that shouldn't be a problem. And you can cut the excess off the front, you don't have to move the turbo forward. I can tell that the design you were trying to copy wouldn't have had the problem with the coolant sensor. Just trying to help.

Got my manifold back for my buddy who cut the holes for me. I guess I should have been more specific on my expectation. Holes are bigger than I wanted, gaps are not tight enough to tig. I wanted a hole the size of the ID of the small 90's and then I could open them up with deburring tool to desired size. Oh well. guess i'll just mig them.

I am going to have the 90's to head flange and the T4 flange to pipe tig'd. The rest i'll just mig my self.
Once this thing is final welded I should be able to get back on finishing my crossover. Waiting on a mandrel 90* I should get Sunday.

Then I also got my bov yesterday. So I have all the pieces I need now to have my top part of cold side tig'd (BOV, and bung for thread in intake temp sensor)

I guess mig will be your only option now.

Another suggestion I have is to redo that 90 from the turbo. I would make it more of a radius 90 if possible.

Not much going on this week, waiting to get my manifold welded. Haven't been able to do much. Ordered a handful of parts this week, Manual boost controller, spark plug wire protectors, silicone 90*, 3 bar map, and few other misc items.

I got a feed and drain line with my turbo. Thinking I saved myself $50-60.... Nope, needed some different fittings. Come to find out the line is Teflon which apparently takes ferrel type AN fittings which my local speed shop didn't have. So ended up having to buy both new feed and drain lines=FAIL

I picked up a 44mm tial wastegate from a buddy. It had a ripped diaphragm, so I stole the one from my 38mm for now. Ordered the v-band mount flange for it. Need to get that installed once I get my manifold back this weekend.

Hoping to make some serious head way since I have this weekend off. Plans include: Finish crossover, re-route my wideband to opposite side of truck to put into downpipe. Finish the temporary downpipe. Get my feedline installed. Drill tap my waterpump for my autometer gauge since I moved factory sensor back to driver side head. Plug the rear pass head coolant port. Re-route fuel feed line to clear crossover. Change the harmonic balancer. Then work on the cold side piping.

Well, my weekend wasn't as productive as I would have liked. But still got a decent amount done.

Had a buddy come by and do all finish welding on my manifold. I cut the hole bigger and added the new flange for the 44mm wastegate, finished a partial/temporary downpipe (I have a final exhaust in mind but not going to finish it until truck runs), Got my crossover finished, which was way more difficult than anticipated. Built a trans cooler bracket since I decided to run remote cooler vs in radiator as it was. Got my harmonic balancer swapped out to new powerbond.
I pulled my waterpump and drilled tapped it to run my autometer coolant temp sender in.

I need to get a couple more fittings to finish my turbo feed line. Need to make some more brackets to mount the trans cooler where I want it (laid back low between radiator and crank) Extend my wiring for both coolant sensors since they both got relocated, get a head plug for rear coolant port. Move my fuel lines away from crossover. Add a bung in down pipe for wideband. Get manifold sand blasted/painted/header wrapped. Mount the intercooler and start working on cold side. and im sure much more lol

Well I finished up my cold side tonight. Just need to farm out tig work to weld it together, weld in temp bung, and BOV flange.

Mocked up my oil drain, looks like it should work great after shortening just a bit.

Also finished the trans cooler. Cut old steel lines and attached hoses.

Nice build. I liked your tire killing video. I seen in another thread you are in Granite City. I need to get out to Gateway this year to some midnight madness events. I have only been to Gateway when power tour rolled through a couple of years ago.

Yeah thanks. Midnight madness is cool to spectate. But I wouldn't waste $$ to run, unless you get there early and hammer some out.

Otherwise its literally hours to sit in staging to make a pass. Wednesday TnT is typically when i'll be running, usually get a ton more passes in

Thanks man.

The note is a brake line I knicked with grinder.... whoops.

I have a goal in mind, but idk if its realistic this year. Maybe next year with a trans swap and suspension work. Just want a 10 sec truck lol

Not much to report. I pulled my downpipe off and welded bung for wideband and started working on relocating the WB controller to passenger side.

Got my cold side back last night, tig work is beautiful, I need to bead roll some lips into the ends of the pipe and test fit before re-painting them.

I purchased my Trunnion upgrade kit yesterday. got all my rockers off. Just need to find time and clean work bench to get it done.

List of To-Do for next week or so:
-Install coolant temp sender into water pump.
-Extend wiring for both coolant sensors (1 done)
-Figure out turbo feed connection(have tried 3 fittings)
-Pull manifold off and do some blend work with carbide bits/wire wheel inside to clean slag/wire wheel outside for spatter
-Paint/header wrap crossover/manifold/DP (wraps on on order)
-Install new radiator/ intrepid assembly/find new upper hose
-continue to sand prep firewall for repaint.
-Swap injectors
-Decide if im going to pull and paint intake. (considering black)
-decide on color for turbo cold side- satin or gloss black
-Shorten turbo drain line

Not a whole lot accomplished this weekend.

Got my coldside bead rolled and test fit. All looks good. Test fit my turbo blanket

Broke down everything, used a pencil grinder and blended in all the stepped ledges inside the flange.

Sent my manifolds to get sandblasted, should have them back tomorrow I hope, also purchased my trunnion upgrade, should have those done by tomorrow as well.

Once the manifolds are back, I will paint them and start doing the header wrap.

Goofing off and decided to add some "flavor" to my intercooler....lol I thought it was funny, I imagine ill paint over it later.

Got my trunions finished, got them hand tightened on motor, didn't have a 6mm hex socket to torque them.

So I received my new u-joints, so I went ahead and knocked those out.

Received my Northern radiator also, Not impressed. first look both inlet/outlet holes weren't cut big enough for size tubes welded on. Welds look less than desirable. Then later, I noticed it wasn't even the correct size... AFTER I "fixed" the hole issues. Ordered a 19x28. Received a 22", number on the box coincides with what I ordered... guess I get to make a call tomorrow either to return for credit and try another Chinese radiator, or wait to get the right size from Northern and most likely have to fix same issues again.

Well after talking to KMJ today. Their measurements are total width... Which is BS, because I manage a parts store and typical radiator measurements are core dimensions. So the biggest they offer is 31" which equates to about 26" core.. Still 2" to short.

I think I am going to just keep a stock HD cooling radiator, and get raped on sending this one back. My research so far nothing I've found in a cheaper aluminum radiator is a true 28" core. So instead of having more headache trying to get a correct aftermarket, i'll just save myself the trouble and keep a stocker
