I payed $3600 shipped from SC to WA 2 years ago. This was for a 99 Camaro LS1 with T56 with about 40,000 miles. Included engine, all accessories, trans, pedal assembly, computer, wiring, intake and exhaust cut behind the cats. Even included the shifter handle.

Would it be better for me to actually buy a complete package with a 4l60e for about ~4g or just go with basics and build my way up. Ie: Ls1~850 (no cpu etc. just the motor) , Built Th400 ~$2000, etc..

Because this is going to be a built block eventually, and I rather be trying to save money by just buying a block that needs to be built now. Then go for a built tranny, then rear end etc etc..

Btw, this is just gathering some info.. but i'm thinking about buying a 99~2000 camaro and just doing the v6 to 8 conversion.. who knows though!?

thanks

go to this website www.tacreationsusa.com/

i just bought a 99 motor/tranny setup, wiring harness all accesories, $3126 includes tax and shipping, but i only live like 7 hours away from them so thats why it wasnte expensive on shipping. but the motor and tranny without tax was $2800. 65,000 miles i think. if you look on ebay, you will see them going for much higher

We can help you out on the harness. Anything from a full custom plug-n-play new harness into your third gen, to reworking the harness you get with the engine so that it's plug-n-play with you car, or we can rework the harness you get with the engine and bring the wires out behind the intake for you to splice into your car.

The only problem some folks have when reworking the stock LS1 harness is finding a place to mount the PCM if you have A/C. There just isn't much room over there. But if you can find a place for it, that is the cheapest way to go.

$1700 for a 2001 with a 6 speed. From what I understand it was a deal. The motor was short a bellhousing and PCM.

I've noticed that LS1's with automatics are a lot cheaper on ebay. Would I be able to buy one of these and then bolt a t56 onto it? or is it better to just hold out for an engine with a manual already on it?

Absolutely you can, but T56s go for $1200-$2000 by themselves. I don't know what you could sell the automatic for, but it probably would be less. I'm not sure that you'd really be saving any money doing this.

My 2 cents...
