Default 1998 Harness 220 and 230 dash harness plugs

Alrighty, I've been searching for 3-4 days trying to find the pinouts for these on a 1998 Harness (Camaro). I've got the C101-C105 completed and ready, but the engine harness -> dash connections don't seem to be documented anywhere.

I was just hoping someone around here might have the pinouts of those connections documented.

I am aware that I can trace the wires though the entire harness, but I'd VERY much like to avoid that if at all possible.

Thanks a lot,

Blake

Yeah,I've looked through those previously (I've read like 75-80 threads on it).

For a few reasons I'm keeping the '98 harness/pcm for now. I want to rule out other wiring/mechanical issues before I redo everything, and I also have HP Tuners for a 98, and don't particularly want to buy it for another year PCM, as that's a touch pricey.

I do appreciate the advice, and I'll probably swap to a later model harness/PCM when I do my turbo setup later on. For now I just need to find the 220/230 pinouts for a 1998 F-Body harness... which is surprisingly difficult.

I'm sorry if I'm missing those pinouts somewhere in the posts you linked. I am blind from time to time.

Thanks! That is all I needed to finish my swap.

I didn't order the shop manual because I had 95% of what I needed to complete it, without having the manual, and I have the FULL diagrams, but they don't show the plug pinouts. Besides, I figured someone around here would have that info.

Thanks a lot sir, if you're ever in the states, I owe ya a beer.

From carb fuel **** to

TPI

to a LSX monster ......looking like a stock jap...nice sleeper

Saw the other thread but overlooked ya name back then!

Did you use the RX fuse box????
Or are you using the Fbody underhood relay/fuse box????

If someone reads this i would like to see a fool proof pic of the Fbody harness with the relay/fuse center ...???

Thats the last thing i havent really worked thru!

I will run the Fans of the CPU
I will fuse the Fuel pump off the harness
Can i skip the underhood fuse/relay stuff then???

Yes, you can skip the underhood stuff. My wiring is done using the LS1 harness as a standalone, running to a custom fusebox (actually, the interior fusebox from the Camaro, modified for my needs) in the glovebox. The OBD2 connector and the relays that will control the fans/fuel pump will also be in the glovebox (I'm just using regular old automotive relays for these). Using the harness pinouts you gave me, and the C100, C101, and C105 plugs from the underhood/front harness connection, all you need to do is supply power to the ignition switched and the one constant (for PCM) power, and one or two grounds. You COULD modify the factory front harness for that, but you'd probably have an easier time with a "standard" fuse bank.

I'll have some pictures and diagrams of my wiring setup next week sometime, no time this weekend unforunately.

edit: To clarify. I'm using the stock RX7 harness for all power/lights and juice to the ignition switch, and just tying off the factory ignition harness on the RX7 to give juice to the fuse block that I'm adding in the glovebox, which will then connect to the LS1 engine harness. I've done another RX7-LS1 this way a month ago, and it worked out quite well.

Hope that makes sense.

Well, to bump this back up....

I'm missing one more wire... I can't find where the engine harness connects the OBDII data wire to the dash harness? Everything else is all wired up...

edit: My best guess so far is "Field Service Enable; C230 K ppl" That's the color of the wire on my OBDII connector... but I'm not sure why it doesn't say Serial Data or somesuch.

Pics? Not sure what you mean...

I'm just trying to figure out which of the wires in the 220/230 plugs is the serial data line for the OBDII connector. From referencing the naming on the list that Magnus gave, and crossing the PCM pinout colors, it appears that it's the purple wire in plug "K" on the blue "230" plug, which is "field service enable" as that is also it's location on later 99+ harnesses as well. I'm just trying to verify before I wire it up and cook my HPTuners or something else bad.

All of your help is much appreciated!

I'm not sure how that 220/230 stuff relates to this, but it looks like there's supposed to be a Data Link Connector (DLC) that OBDII tools connect to, with these connections in it:

Ground Distribution:
Black-4
Black/White-5

Power Distribution / Fuse Block:
Orange-16

Powertrain Control Module:
Purple-2 (Serial Data Class II)
Tan-9 (Serial Data UART)

Is this what you're looking for?

The 220/230 stuff would be the plugs where those wires terminate. Better put, the wires run from the PCM (I know where those are) through the harness to plugs (which are, or at least should be) the 220/230 plugs to the dash harness. As I have the harness rewrapped and repaired, not to mention installed on the engine and in the car, I don't really want to unloom the whole thing to get the pinout to the connector. I'm fairly sure that the UART serial data isn't what I need, as the OBDII uses the class II signal, so that means it -should- be the purple wire.

Mostly, I just need to figure out if the "field service access" title in the book = "Serial data class II" in reality.

Making sense?
