I am almost finished....got my ZQ8 suspension done....blazer center console mod...overhead console mod....leather blazer seats....dynamat throughout entire cab...frame cleaned and painted...all new steering components...poly bushings throughout....blazer DP brakes up front....8.5 disk blazer in rear with detroit trutrac...motor in and wired....intake ducting done....battery relocated in pass side of bed...got true H-pipe duals with Dynomax Mufflers exiting dual swept side behind pass tire...have tach working properly....still working on cruise controls (added it in...truck didnt orig have it, so its a PITA)...trying to figure out the VSSB/DRAC calibration to get my speedo and cruise and ABS to work properly.....after that all I have left is clean up some interior wiring (originally a base model...now 98+ door panels...power windows, power locks, power heated mirrors, and power heated memory seats) Also have some alarm wiring...have to loom it up and make it pretty as I added a window roll up/down module to it. So hopefully in about 2 weeks I will have my C6 Z06 rims and tires and the wiring will be done....then its on the road i go its been one year and about 7k to get it this far...but oh it is so worth it.

Sounds alot like my project, blazer interior/consoles,blazer rear...Unfortunately I haven't had time to touch it in a month .Should be back to normal next week and get the motor dropped in and ready to have headers fabbed.

The regular 4X4 is 4" wide overall (2" a side) and the ZR2 is 8" wider overall (4" a side) all this is compared to the 2WD rear.

Are you looking for a 8.5"? I gave up on mine so I just got an 8.5 out of a '95 Silverado and I'm gonna put new tubes on it and rebuild the rest.

Only problem is they went to 6 lug in '99 I think. It's about impossible to find one out of an S-series. What I have figured out is that the stock tube diameter is prolly about 1/2" too big. If you look at the pics of the ultra rare S-10 8.5" the tubes reduce in diameter after it leaves the center section on the Full size it does the exact opposite it enlarges right after the pumpkin. So now I am looking into the idea of somebody local doing the tubes for me I might end up sending it to DTS or Strange or Moser or hell I don't know......

I'll figure it out I allways do. I'll let you guys know when I do.

what about a gen 2 camaro rearend they were all 8.5s wouldn't that be a bit easier to narrow since it already has the right bolt pattern and i would think rather plentiful.

Yeah I thought about that but it was reccomended to me to get the silverado rear as it had larger bearings (forget which ones) and is supposed to be a stronger rear.

i wouldnt use a stock camaro rear, they break on stock camaros sometimes. im stickin with the 8.8 all i need is to get the bolt pattern changed and maybe shorten it a little, its 4 inches wider.

Well you can make the Camaro (second Gen) stronger you would just have to go to 30 spline axles and do the rest of the std upgrades it would be fine it's an 8.5" or you could just get the silverado rear.

they werent 8.5's they were all 7.5 inch up till 93 then they went to the 7.625 (7 5/8). the same as the S-10 truck. the 99-2000 blazers with the W code V6 and a 5 spd had the 8.5 3.42 posi rearend. some had disc brakes also.

No the fbodys had an 8.2 in the first gen then switched to an 8.5 in the 70's (28 spline I believe). The 82-02 were the 7 5/8 rears.
