Where you getting ZQ8 ? :Their actually out of an extreem, twin piston calipers and larger rotors, much better than the original 91's...My Current perf.harness is a little more $ because the fly by wire throttle requires an extra harness. With all the positive feedback I've read about Jared the price is well worth the piece of mind allowing me to concentrate on the rest of the project

Do you know what a ZQ8 S-10 is? its the same as the xtreme with out the body kits. ZQ8 is an RPO for the sport suspension package on ZQ8 S-10's 95-2003, Xtremes 99-2003 and SS's 96-98 check my sig for a real ZQ8 s-10. and yes the brakes are upgraded from 91 but there is no difference between the brakes on a ZQ8 and the brakes on grandpa's grocery getter S-10 with stock 15 inch "Swirlies".

I'm pretty sure the 98+ blazers have twin piston calipers,I don't think they were available on trucks.

Yep, that's corrct, the 98+ Blazers have twin piston calipers in the front. It makes for a pretty decent upgrade, but I think you have to swap the spindle also in order to make them fit. No big deal though.

Yeah, they use a spindle that utilizes a hub.

One thing you guys might wanna look into is the C5 vette brake upgrade. If you turn your stock rotors down, you can use them as a hub. A few people make a bracket that bolts to the stock S10 spindle than allows you to use the C5 caliper as well.

Go to www.thirdgen.org and look for the C5 swap in the brake upgrade section. An S10 spindle and 3rd gen F-body spindle are exactly the same except the S10 spindle takes a balljoint up top and the 3rd gen has a strut mount. Everything else carries over.

Would swapping in a Lt1 be "easier" than an LS1? Correct me if im wrong, but the lt1 is based on the 'earlier' style sbc, so there are pans, headers, exhaust etc kits out there for the swap. And also, less to no frame mods? thanks for the info, Austin.

Seemed like almost as much to work to me with less HP benefit(the deal breaker). I've also seen enough opti-spark problems to keep me from goin that route . Though you are correct, there are alot more swap products for that motor as I beleive most SBC stuff will work. Though it seems there is enough LS1 stuff out there now I think to get you by though the company that has the good stuff...like long tubes and oil pan is hit and miss (ls1performanceparts.com).

LT1s for the most part are totally interchangeable with a 1st gen small block into an s10

To me the only disadvantage with a LT1/4 vs. an LSx is the weight difference. The LT's tend to make more low end tq but they don't seem to rev as freely as the LS's.

But also remember that usually the motor has to be newer or the same year as the vehicle it is being put into to be emissions legal.

Yeah but the power can be made. Hell I just made a 550hp 383ci with HSR fuel injection. To me the biggest advantage is the weight an LS1 is just about the same weight as a 4.3L V6.

also note I am assuming we are talking about built motors not a stock drop in if you are talking stock you are absolutely correct.

I'm finishing up my brakes and suspension (working on the 8.5" rear) and hope to have a block or a pull out motor trans by the end of the year. Things are getting complicated, the wife is due in July (first kid) so after that it's all a crap shoot. I'll get it done though. I've been drooling over the thought of a 427" though.

As soon as I sell my Cobra, it's on. I've got pretty much all the planning done.
