As far as fitment issues....a 4l60e fits with NO modification to the tunnel at all. And a t-56 with some mounts fits with NO mods also...and with others you just have to bend the little lip over on the firewall where it attaches to the tunnel. These are in NO way mods that are difficult. If you are worried about this little mod then you should stay away from this swap as it will involve chopping up the frame some. Also there may be slight cutting of the tunnel for shifter placement...but nothing bad. And as far as the T5 goes...I would nix that idea. You would have to build it up pretty good to even make it worth your while...although it can be done...you would have more into it than a T-56 that would be just fine as it site...and a 6 speed to boot. Thats my 2 cents worth on that issue on my personal experience with my own S10 LS1. Hope it helps.

The T5 isn't a good choice. Won't stand up behind the LS1. Just not enough there.
Other transmissions you could consider include the TKO 500 & 600, Richmond 5 & 6 speeds, and most of the factory v8 4 speeds (like Muncies & T10's) but you give up overdrive.....
Most of the other transmission choices are either too weak (like the T5) or really not suitable (like the NV4500 truck transmission, which might fit and probably not break, but takes about 15 minutes to shift gears).

plumbing the fuel system on my sonoma....i have three lines on my frame rail, one feed, one return, and one that goes to my evap canister im assuming..so if i use the vette fuel.reg filter...my ls1 only needs a feed and return...what do i do with the evap line?....in other words, how the hell does the fuel system get plumbed? thanks Austin.
If you arekeeping the emissions controls, then you will re-use the charcoal canister vent tube. If not, then just plug it up.
The LS1 engine itself above '99 only needs a fuel feed, however, the Corvette filter assembly will utilize the return. No return goes to the engine.

well yea thats why im asking because i have a 98' ls1...sorry should of mentioned that. so what would i do with the evap line if i was keeping the emissions? also, the vette filter has one inlet and two outlets correct, one being the feed and the other outle for the return line?
If you are going to try to use the Vette filter, which really wouldn't matter with a '98, then you will have to block off the return on the engine. Otherwise, just use a regular filter, and both the feed and rturn that are on the engine.
If you are keeping emissions, just hook the EVAP tube to the EVAP purge solenoid on the '98 engine.

oh no ****, i just learned something
so, it's just a matter of running a feed and a return. cool, i like that. Well i'm going to the garage tonight, gotta finish my suspension and body mounts, thanks for the help.

does anyone know where a guy could get a 5.5" dia. power steering pump pulley with a .875 back side spacing to allow me to use the factory truck bracket from the 6.0 for my 2001 s-10?
so, i just got my frame and motor mounts in today, and the 2.8 frame mount only has 3 mounting bolt holes, and the factory 4.3 mounts have 4....did i order the wrong mount, or do i have to modify the frame or the mount to make the 3rd hole work. looks like 2 of the 3 holes will bolt, but the other is in the center of the mount, doesn't line up with my frame. so what did you guys do about motor mounts?
here are some pics of the frame work i did. the a/c pump clears but it is very close. I made my own motor mounts but i think they are very similar to what you would buy off the shelf
