Unhappy LS2 2006 GTO in a 69 Camaro

Anyone done a 06 GTO LS2 T56 to a 69 Camaro? I got one and did not know the o6 LS2 oil pan in the GTO is front Baffle. The same engine in other cars comes rear baffle and with the BRPhotrods.com engine mounts bolts right on (if using brp rack and pinion kit which I have). I don't think the GTO's front baffle oil pan can be cut and welded to fit between the engine and frame without dangerously reducin oil volume.

Is it safe and would it work if I get the rear baffle oil pan and put it on my GTO engine?

Please HELP

Any LS1 oil pan and pickup tube will fit on that engine. Moving to conversions forum.

Thank You. I got the engine and T56 in the car (minus oil pan) fits nice, I’ll run to the local yard on Monday to get the correct oil pan. The only other problem I got is the AC compressor. The BRPhotrods.com motor mounts make the engine accessories clear the frame well but (and I don't think this was and issue when designing the engine mounts) the 2006 GTO compressor has hose ports to the side (bottom hose port is hitting my frame) and the earlier AC compressors have the hose ports to the back (correct?). I don’t want to cut my frame so I'll need to find out if an earlier AC compressor will bolt to the stock bracket in the 2006 GTO LS2. Or if the back housing of the AC compressors can be interchange (after all my 2006 set up came with only 1500 miles and it will be a waist to have to buy an AC compressor when this one is fairly unused).
Thank you for the tips

wow, you have done a lot of work on that body! Nice job.

What control arms are you using on that subframe? Looks great. I also had the BRP setup on my '69: www.ExtremeG.net

I got the car on ebay Nov 04 (lets just say it looked better on ebay than in person). I replaced all sheet metal and floors (except the rockers, those where the only solid parts). Even the cowl box was replaced. Sheet metal work I can handle but the electronics of new engines I'm learning as I go. The A-arms come from www.BMRfabrication.com with ball joints and special order silver powder coat the price was $830.00. They have very good service. Their price is $300-$500 less than other suppliers.
Your 69 is incredible. What a dream!.
Thanks for the coments.

nice, BMR is a sponsor on the site here. I also have their components going on the next '69, but I wish I had gotten them in silver! That looks nice.

Kinda funny that your rockers were solid, those are usually the first things to go on a car that has rust.

Don't fear the new engines, if you get a custom wiring harness that is labeled nicely and has good instructions, it is relatively simple to swap one of these into a car. Takes a little time, especially with gauges and such, but its pretty simple to do.

nice progress, thanks for the update. These are the kind of things that motivate the rest of us!

how do you keep your garage so clean? I swear it looks like a tool factory exploded in mine whenever I work on the cars.

Your project looks like it is coming along really nicely. I can't help you with your AC problem, although I do have the whole AC setup off my 2002 that I'll sell to you for cheap if you need it. (bracket, compressor etc)

Thanks for the info and encouragement. Tuske427 would you e-mail me the mag info and Rybar would you e-mail me a price on your AC set up?

Thank you again.
Nine Ball I built a 12x10 shed in the backyard (keeps the wife and the neighbors happy)
I got and oil pan from e-bay today I'll let you know how it bolts on. A nice guy read this post and he is in need of the front sump oil pan (may have a buyer, aren't computers super?)

Sent you an e-mail. Make me a reasonable offer and I'll probably take it.

Hello. I got the LS1 oil pan on the 2006 GTO LS2 engine and it fits perfect.

NEW PROBLEM: The drive by wire cable that plugs into the gas pedal and the cars harness was not available with my engine and transmission. I have the GTO's gas pedal, engine harness, and computer but no way to plug the pedal to the computer. Is there anyone who knows how to go about solving this problem? Here is a photo of the pedal and computer sitting in my 69 Camaro. I think the missing cable goes to the blue port on the ECM but I'm not sure. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

As a matter of fact, I just tonight pulled the harness for the gas pedal out of the GTO I got my motor from. The bad news is that the harness is all one piece, meaning the whole dash harness which also has the diagnostic connector. I'm just going to take apart the factory harness and use the wiring that I need. I also got the body control module, thinking about trying to make the VATS system operational as an anti-theft device. If you don't have the harness from the computer to the inside of the car, I'm not sure what you can do. Let us know what you figure out though.

The J1 section of the E40's harness is one piece from the dash to the headlights. We had to open a hole in the GTO's dash one foot by one foot to remove it. This is what it looks like out of the car.

A few places are making harnesses from scratch to use the ETC (electronic throttle control) with their $$$ ECM. One of them should be able to suply the plug for the pedel. Let me know if you need a pic of it posted.

Has anyone wired a LS2 with the factory E40 ECM? What pins did you hook up from the J1 connector? Are there any websights that help the guys using a modified factory harness and ECM? I've been looking and not finding much helpful info for the LS2 wiring.

I have posted all the J1 pin asignments but I just don't know what is required to keep for a LS2 swaped car.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-swaps/519806-ls2-e40-engine-control-module-j1-pin-assignments.html#post4947450

Sorry for the highjack question but since this information is required for both of our projects I hope you'll forgive me.
